Also, isn't it competing with Seven Pounds? A lot of starpower to go against, given Sam Jackson is their only big name. Well, they DO have Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, and Jaime King. Hrrm. Point taken. I didn't know Johansson was in it, but the others aren't exactly Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, or maybe even Owen Wilson level recognition.

What's with the Frank Miller hate? Well, speaking for myself....the man really had no business directing or even adapting THE SPIRIT in the first place, if THIS was what he intended to do with it. I don't HATE him, but I do dislike what he did to what would have been an otherwise serviceable franchise in anyone else's hands.

What's with the Frank Miller hate? Well, ever since DK2, the dude's been a little nutty. All Star Batman and Robin is a marvelous carwreck and Holy Terror, Batman! should be as well.

This honestly doesn't surprise me. Not that I expected it to do THAT bad, but still.

I just got back from seeing it.
Lots of old people, people in their 70's and 80's in my theater.
We bitch and moan about hollywood raping our childhood.
But think about these people. The original readers of the Spirit.

Well Hell, there was freaking five new movies opening this week, one of them was bound to fail.
Doesn't really help that the ads for it were kind of vague as to what it's about.

The ads made it seem like it was just about The Spirit getting boinked a lot.

And their reactions were? Just curious.... Mixed. Well, I suppose since the strip hasn't run in DECADES that there might be some who've forgotten what it was originally supposed to be, and might like seeing him on the big screen, though I cannot for the life of me see an older moviegoer really DIGGING the "Frank Miller Experience" ( IE "Green Screen CINEMA") at all. Not saying it couldn't happen, just doesn't seem likely.
