OK, I know I drink waaaaayyyyy too much Mt. Dew. I was thinking about quitting cold turkey. My only concern is the killer headaches I get now if I go a day without one.
So, to anyone who may have quit soda....how long does it take before the headaches stop. Or is it different for different people?

I never get headaches, and I haven't drank a soda in 5 days now.
I'm trying to go to water 90% of the time with every now and then some tea or juice.

I never got a headache, but it sucked not drinking soda frequently.

My brother also quit drinking soda for 5 or 6 years, he never once got a headache either.

I didn't get headaches when I quit.
If you can't do it cold turkey, try and ween yourself off it it.

You could try buying yourself some aspirin fee excedrin. It has some caffeine in it to get you through 65mg, compared to 12 ounce MD which has 55.
My brother took them when he quit drinking MD for health reasons. He switched over to sugar free energy drinks and feels a lot better now.

Try switching to caffeine free soda. That's what I did and I never got headaches. After drinking it for a while, you may be able to quit drinking it all together. I'm not saying it will help but it may be worth a shot.

When I initially started the process of getting gastric bypass, I had to take myself off caffeine. I started by going from Coke to Diet Coke, then Diet Coke to Caffeine-Free Diet Coke (also did it with Pepsi). Not only did I never get a headache, but I lost a lot of weight that way.
...OK, I never got off soda altogether. Hell, all I drink these days is water and Coke Zero. I just wanted to be part of the conversation.

Whenever I try to quit, I get headaches, I'm exhausted, crabby, and hungry. The best I can do is just sort of ration myself.

I kinda had to crash course, as me and the then-girlfriend had Dr. Pepper and watched movies all night before I left for Basic. It took me a week or so to overcome the headaches, but that's under much more "stress" (BT was easy. The most difficult part was the lack of sleep, but beyond that, it was cake.)

Works some days...others, not so much. I really just wanna quit because Im trying to get my abs back, and I have no energy at all anymore. I think it has to do with the fact I drink too much Dew.

I'd substitute the lack of carbonation with plain old water.

Another thing that helps is work. When I'm at work busying myself, I drink a LOT less soda than I do at home; I seem to always be opening a new can at home, whereas one can at work that I had at 8:30 will still usually be there around 1:00.
So, if you have a job, you're halfway there.

Never had a single headache when I gave up soda. Must be different for everyone, though.

When I last gave up soda (which was yesterday and most of today due to some bowel issues), I had a slight headache. Nothing migraine worthy, but a slight buzzing and pounding in my head.
