The guy seems OK but I'm not sold on that costume. Assuming that is his costume.

I don't think that will be his Doctor Who costume. If they knew what it was already they would have shown you on the programme. That picture just looks to me like a quickly thrown together publicity shot.

I don't mind that costume. Looks like a mix of Eccelson and Tennent

I think he looks good in that outfit. But I still don't think it is his Doctor Who outfit.

After watching the Doctor Who Confidential interview, I think he'll do a good job.

Wow im really gonna miss Tennent but after the interview and that publicity photo ill definitely give him a shot. I mean if Heath Ledger can surprise me as the Joker I think anything can happen hehe.

Is it just me that's getting a good laugh out of half the Doctor Who Forums exploding in petitions and people saying they won't watch because of the choice?

I haven't seen Confidential yet, so I'm just going on that promo picture. He looks much younger than 26. I was thinking it could limit who his companion would be. Wouldn't a Donna-type be weird leading to ugh, mother jokes instead of couple jokes?

Wouldn't a Donna-type be weird leading to ugh, mother jokes instead of couple jokes? I'd imagine he'll have a Billie or Martha style companion. I was thinking the same as you about the Donna/mother-figure thing.

Having an older companion would make things interesting.
Like Doctor 6 & Evelin.

What I wanna know is will he be a super serial Doctor like 9th or a wise cracking, sarcastic, wise ass Doctor like 10th?
I mean he certainly looks to be wise cracking, but at the same time he could believably be a hard ass.

OK I have never watched this show can you explain to me the reasoning behind all of the doctors? Are they supposed to be the same guy? Or does the Doctors doctorhood get passed down to generation? Has this show been on continuously since it first aired? Or have there been remakes?

Has this show been on continuously since it first aired? Or have there been remakes? No No No And No The Doctor is an alien Time Traveller, When he is mortally injured he goes through a transformation known as "Regeneration" where his body and personality changes... The show started in 1963 and was cancelled in the late 80s, there was an attempt to bring it back in 1996 with a TV movie that flopped.. it was brought back again in 2005 and is now in it's 4th new season... And that is that...

ok so it is the same alien species continuously, just in different forms. Now the current doctor who is not a remake but a continuation? it would be hard to get into if I had to watch all the back from 1963

Now the current doctor who is not a remake but a continuation? it would be hard to get into if I had to watch all the back from 1963 It's a continuation starting with the 9th doctor you don't need to know that much of the backstory just this bassically The Doctor is the last of his kind after a massive war throughout TIme known as the time war The War was against the Doctor who's most famous Villains, The daleks He travels through time and around the world in what called the TARDIS, a Police Box (Bassically a phone Box from the 60s which people used to phone the police) He's just called the Doctor NOT Doctor Who And that is really all you need to know if you want to watch the show...
