Meh. Sounds like a fun idea. It's possible that Lego has multiple games in development, and this one is just a quick and easy one to do, given that the game engine already exists, for the most part.
Besides, if they get the rights for the White Strips "Fell in Love with a Girl," well then sir, your objections will look silly.

How can you Lego a game about playing musical instruments? You replace the pointless background graphics with Lego background graphics.

In the words of the wise sage Scott Steiner: Heh? Lego Wrestling would be awesome. ;D I made a lego wrestling ring and had my own lego wrestling fed once!

I don't get it. Isn't the whole fun of the Lego games to see a popular film franchise in Lego form? Why not Lego Lord of the Rings or Lego Superman or something? I'd mark for Lego Cheech and Chong, especially with the father yelling at Chong. "Bend and scoop! Bend and scoop!"

It'll be LEGO Harry Potter. New film comes out. Lego version comes out. Everyone's happy. You can thank me later.

I smell a Rock Band 2 patch more than a standalone game.

I'd like to kindly disagree. No seriously, Atari betting that E.T. would make 2 million or so people buy an Atari console made more sense than that.
Also, I had this GREAT idea for LEGO: what about making a game, I mean, a real life game, with colorful plastic bricks and characters, and you could use the bricks to build buildings and vehicles and create universes for the plastic characters?! What about doing THAT instead of video games?!
Seriously, I hope the source was drunk/high/messing with the journalists.
