Hello Wrestlecrap! At the moment I'm doing an essay on how Tim Burton represents society in his films and I need to include opinion's/quotes from people who have filled out my questionaire's. At the moment the range of people I've got is pretty limited so I was hoping that some people out there wouldn't mind filling one in? Negative opinion's are welcome, just please try to explain your answers don't just say "it's crap" and not give a reason. And also try not to say your favourite character is "Johnny Depp cause he's hot". Currently that is the leading answer and I really don't think I should put it in.
Thankyou a million times if anyone actually fills one in, I will be very grateful.

[glow=red,2,300]Are you… Male/Female - Male
How old are you? - 21
Who do you live with (parents, siblings, on your own etc)? - Parents.
If you have seen any of the following films please say if you liked or disliked them (feel free to give reasons why):
Beetlejuice- Like Batman- Like Edward Scissorhands- Like Batman Returns- Like The Nightmare Before Christmas- Disliked Mars Attacks!- Like James and the Giant Peach- Like Sleepy Hollow- Like Planet of the Apes- Like Big Fish- Like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Like Corpse Bride- Like
Please list some words which describe these films (i.e. weird, creepy etc) - Idiosyncratic, Eerie, Foreboding. Describe the main characters (not the actor) in the films you have seen (brave, funny, etc.) In general I'd say the one thing each main character has in common is an uneasy sense of duty or authority. Batman, Willy Wonka and even Edward Scissorhands all are public figures who would rather be left to their own devices.
Please state your favourite characters from any of the films above (& your reasons why) Batman, simply because he is a magnificent character. Directed perfectly by Tim Burton to bring out his dark and menacing side. Willy Wonka, because of his creepy and eccentric yet inherently childish qualities.
Do you think that any of the main characters are good role models (why/why not)? Batman is in the sense that he took a stand for what he believed in. Also Edward Scissorhands definitley shows the ability to not react to peoples negative opinions of you.
What Actor or Actress that hasn’t been in one of the films above (to your knowledge) do you think would be suitable for a Tim Burton film? (Please give a reason why).[/glow] Angelina Jolie. Largely because she is a magnificent actress. But also because she has a dark and slightly intimidating side that I think would flourish in a Burton movie. Will Smith. He is always in films that are so opposing to the hallmarks of a Burton movie. That fact combined with his talent, makes me think it would be an interesting mix. To see such a happy and bubbly character in a very dark and eccentric movie.

Thankyou a million times if anyone actually fills one in, I will be very grateful. [glow=red,2,300] Are you…Male or Female? How old are you?Who do you live with (parents, siblings, on your own etc)?I am a 33 y/o female. I live with my husband and 4 year old son. If you have seen any of the following films please say if you liked or disliked them (feel free to give reasons why): Pee-wee's Big Adventure- Liked/Disliked Loved, because of set design and utter absurdity of such lines like when Pee Wee tells off Amazing Larry during the meeting. I find myself quoting this movie without meaning to, and I saw it first when it came out when I was ten. The meaning to me has changed over my lifetime (obviously, as the jokes are on two levels.) I want my own Rube-Goldberg breakfast device too. Beetlejuice- Like/Disliked I loved this movie. I saw it in the theater when it came out, with my dad. We at this point, living in a small town, had no clue that there was such as thing as a Tim Burton, or a goth (although like Burton I was a Cure fan) and yet Beetlejuice seemed to me organically part of a greater whole even then, something I could not define but that I wanted to be a part of. I love the line "I'll eat anything you want me to eat, I'll swaller anything you want me to swaller. Come on down, I'll...CHEW ON THE DOG!" Batman- Like/Disliked It was okay. Again I saw it au theatre opening night, and was forced to find whatever seat was available next to noone I knew. This probably had some effect on my enjoyment as at the time I was shy. Edward Scissorhands- Like/Disliked I cried all the way through this movie, in the theater. I have not watched it since, because I do not like to sob my way through movies. Keep in mind I had no clue of the link between all these movies when they were released. Batman Returns- Like/Disliked I liked it, but have no comment. The Nightmare Before Christmas- Like/Disliked I adores this movie. This one I did not see until it was on video. I avoided in the theater because I thought it was a kids' movie and by this time I was in college. Someone showed it to me late one psychedelic evening and I cannot count the number of times I have watched it since. I love the songs too and I sing them often. Ed Wood- Like/Disliked Now, this was the first one I saw in the theater, again on opening night, because it was a Tim Burton film. I was disappointed, having expected the Beetlejuice/Nightmare darkness and Pee Wee absurdity. I had no clue who Ed Wood was at the time. Since moving in with Kash Flagg I have since read Nightmare of Ecstacy and gained a better appreciation for the film. I see now that Burton's stamp is on the film regardless of it being a (somewhat) faithful biopic. Mars Attacks!- Like/Disliked Disliked. Did not find funny. James and the Giant Peach- Like/Disliked Liked, for visuals, did not know until this moment it was a Burton film. Am very envious of girls who can pull off eye makeup that makes them look like Miss Spider. Sleepy Hollow- Like/Disliked Meh. Planet of the Apes- Like/Disliked Did not see, thought it would be boring Big Hollywood crap. Being a fangirl, probably will watch it now as again I did not know it was Burton. Big Fish- Like/Disliked Liked, because of visuals and set design, but did not like story as much as expected. The Helena Bonham Carter obsession is getting old (yes, I realize they are married.) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Like/Disliked Am a fan of the original, saw it like Beetlejuice alone with my father in theater, because we were visiting his brother 1000 miles from home and bored and felt an obligation to check it out. Realize Burton sees Depp as an idealized version of himself. Cannot enjoy the film because cannot separate it in mind from the Gene Wilder version which I love like a family member. Off my lawn. Corpse Bride- Like/Disliked Enjoyed on DVD much after release, but not enough to have watched it again. Unfair comparisons in own mind with Nightmare. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street- Like/Disliked Enjoyed in theater, because I am a fangirl, but have not watched again. The Johnny Depp obsession is getting old. Please list some words which describe these films (i.e. weird, creepy etc) I think you can pull some words from what I just expounded upon *blush* Describe the main characters (not the actor) in the films you have seen (brave, funny, etc.)Pee Wee - slightly gay man child Beetlejuice - opportunist, perhaps to the point of being the ID Batman - undersexed Edward Scissorhands - the thing which makes him desirable is the same thing which makes him undesirable....if I was back in college myself getting my stupid B.A. again I would probably write a paper make this a thesis Jack Skellington - would almost qualify as a tragic hero were he not already dead Ed Wood - maniacal James - curious Charlie - kind of a weenie Willy Wonka - somewhat creepy Please state your favourite characters from any of the films above (& your reasons why) My favorite character would be Sally the rag doll, because she had the intestinal fortitude to jump out the window and sewed her own leg back on. Badasssssssssssssss! Do you think that any of the main characters are good role models (why/why not)? Sally is a good role model because she is consistent (in a non-foolish way) and perseveres to do right throughout the film. What Actor or Actress that hasn’t been in one of the films above (to your knowledge) do you think would be suitable for a Tim Burton film? (Please give a reason why).[/glow] Have Tim Curry and Tim Burton collaborated? If not, they should. Tim Curry makes the best villains, and as we all know, the best villains are those which possess a seductive quality as well. Tim Burton's protagonists are usually in conflict with their own nature. I'd like to see Tim Curry be a starring bad guy again instead of the "and" man. Thank you for listening.

[glow=red,2,300]Are you… Male or Female?
Male
How old are you?
Soon to be 27.
Who do you live with (parents, siblings, on your own etc)?
Parents and Brother.
If you have seen any of the following films please say if you liked or disliked them (feel free to give reasons why): Pee-wee's Big Adventure- Liked/Disliked Beetlejuice- Like/Disliked Batman- Like/Disliked Edward Scissorhands- Like/Disliked Batman Returns- Like/Disliked The Nightmare Before Christmas- Like/Disliked Ed Wood- Like/Disliked Mars Attacks!- Like/Disliked James and the Giant Peach- Like/Disliked Sleepy Hollow- Like/Disliked Planet of the Apes- Like/Disliked Big Fish- Like/Disliked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Like/Disliked Corpse Bride- Like/Disliked Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street- Like/Disliked
I liked all of them, except Sweany Todd which I haven't seen.
Please list some words which describe these films (i.e. weird, creepy etc)
Very stylized "gothic" looks to many of them. Tim Burton has a unique vision for movies that you can point out without even having to know it was him that directed the movie. Describe the main characters (not the actor) in the films you have seen (brave, funny, etc.)
Pee-Wee: Funny, Good-Hearted, Man-Child. Beetlejuice: Underhanded trickster Batman: Hero to all but himself Edward Scissorhands: Mistreated, loving, lonley person willing to sacrafice his own happiness for others. Jack Skellington: Bored of the tediousness of everyday life Ed Wood: Artist with all the heart and passion he needs, but none of the skill, talent or money.
Please state your favourite characters from any of the films above (& your reasons why)
Jack Skellington: I like his sleak design, including his michievious grin. I also like the songs he comes up with.
Batman: I just like Batman period. Hero willing to give everything to his cause.
Beetlejuice: Just fun to watch. All his tricks, jokes and changes.
Edward Scissorhands: I always feel sorry for the guy. He recieves the short end of the stick his whole life, despite being one of the few people that deserve the world.
Do you think that any of the main characters are good role models (why/why not)?
Sort of. I think some of the characters have aspects that should be looked up to. Batman's heroism, Edwards' friendliness, and the like. I think they all have to many flaws to actually say "I want to be just like him" though.
What Actor or Actress that hasn’t been in one of the films above (to your knowledge) do you think would be suitable for a Tim Burton film? (Please give a reason why).[/glow]
Tim Curry Robert Downey, Jr. Jeff Bridges Brad Pitt
I got no reason really except I think they can all play odd, quirky characters. In Brad Pitt's case it's more of the fact that he does very well in darker movies such as Seven and Fight Club.

Are you… Male or Female? Male How old are you? 31 Who do you live with (parents, siblings, on your own etc)? the Future Mrs. Schlapowitz. If you have seen any of the following films please say if you liked or disliked them (feel free to give reasons why): Pee-wee's Big Adventure- Liked/Disliked Loved. Just a downright fun movie. Beetlejuice- Like/Disliked Loved. Batman- Like/Disliked Meh. I was 12 when it was released and thought it was the best movie ever made, then. But it hasn't stood the test of time very well, and now as an adult I see that it's very well designed, but empty. Edward Scissorhands- Like/Disliked Loved. Arguably Burton's masterpiece. Batman Returns- Like/Disliked Meh. It's better than the first, but nothing great, IMO. The Nightmare Before Christmas- Like/Disliked Liked. Great movie, very fun, but I dislike the way it's become basically a lothing line for 14 year old Hot Topic kids now. That's not a slam on the movie though. I think it's great. Ed Wood- Like/Disliked Haven't seen it all the way through. Mars Attacks!- Like/Disliked Liked. Apparently I'm in the minority here. It showed that Burton can do comedy. James and the Giant Peach- Like/Disliked Never saw it. Sleepy Hollow- Like/Disliked Disliked. visually impressive, but empty. Planet of the Apes- Like/Disliked Disliked. There was no need for this to be remade. Seems like it was just a paycheck to all involved. Big Fish- Like/Disliked Loved. Along with Edward Scissorhands, it's arguably Burton's masterpiece. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Like/Disliked Disliked. Sorry, but nostalgia wins this round. The original is one of my favorites, Messrs. Burton and Depp, "You lose! Good day, Sirs!" Corpse Bride- Like/DislikedI thought it was almost as good as "Nightmare". Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street- Like/Disliked Liked. Excelent movie, but could Burton PLEASE make a movie with someone other than Depp and Bonham-Carter? Please list some words which describe these films (i.e. weird, creepy etc) weird definitely works, though sometimes it comes across as he's just being weird for the sake of being weird. I think Big Fish is the only one of his movies that doesn't come across as "weird for the sake of being weird". Describe the main characters (not the actor) in the films you have seen (brave, funny, etc.) Most of them come across as a little off-center. Please state your favourite characters from any of the films above (& your reasons why) Edward Scissorhands. His childlike innocence is what makes that movie work so well. Do you think that any of the main characters are good role models (why/why not)? Edward Bloom. He was telling the truth the whole time. What Actor or Actress that hasn’t been in one of the films above (to your knowledge) do you think would be suitable for a Tim Burton film? (Please give a reason why). Joke answer: ANYONE other than Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter. Real answer: Not sure why, but I think James Franco and Anne Hathaway would be a good fit for a Burton flick.
