Turn them the Smurf in!!! ;D Sure it sucks for the Mexicans who will be unemployed but it isn't like they are making hardly anything anyway. They'll find something else.

Sucks. I've had to let a few people go recently. Keep thinking they're gonna be waiting for me by my car after work.

I got a job but they still haven't told me when I start and it has been like two weeks. They are opening up a new store tomorrow though so hopefully they will let me know next week.

Yeah, this happened to me last year. We came back from Christmas, worked a week and they laid us off. They apparently had it planned from October-November-ish... but didn't wanna ruin Christmas for everyone.
So instead... a bunch of people spent more than they would/should've for X-Mas and were out of a job.

It's too bad that you couldn't take the word "off" off of that sentence.
Good luck, man.

Damn, man, that sucks.
I remember they did mass layoffs at the building I work at aboutt wo years ago. Just one day came in and said "everybody's out in two weeks". Walked 400 people in a day.
Sadly, I'll be job hunting in the morning, since, thanks to my former boss who is doing fill-in work for us right now, we're about to lose our contract. Worst part is, he's doing this on purpose because he's pissed off that they won't give him the specific part time shift he wants (that doesn't happen to exist, but that's apparently besides the point), and it'll wind up costing all of us our jobs.

it sucks especially because it seemed as though that the mines was the only place to be hired around here. I don't even know if McDonalds is...
I think Verizon is but I have no experience in the field. I am going to try anyway, cant be hard to sell phones.

I feel your pain. The place where I used to work was closed down the day before Thanksgiving without any notice; but the manager and I were kept around to help pack up everything. Our last day was the Monday before Christmas. Needless to say, it was a sad month having to pack up everything to be moved out; plus, being out of work has really thrown off my whole, umm, "body schedule" (if that makes sense).

I am starting my new job on Monday, after being laid off on June 18th. Yeah, 6.5 months of no work, it sucked horribly. Thankfully, I got unemployment benefits, which run out this week (so next week, I get my last unemployment check as I start my new job, it's like, perfect timing).
