Well, like always, this thread/poll/thing has been done due to my regular boredom, and with a little help from the Funny/Not Funny thread. In any case, making the multi-purpose anime thread a little less multi-purpose, I made this to expose the wrestlecrappers to more anime. Like evil radiation. Or herpes. Or evil radiation with herpes that has a mean, poking, stick. Well, thread locks in three days, and after that I'll post once every week or so. I'll post a synopsis of the anime with a pic and maybe an OP/ED. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Well, let's start with something that's not so well known. The Skull ManThe journalist named Hayato Mikogami who returns to his hometown at Otomo to investigate strange rumors of killings done by a man wearing a skull mask. Tailed tightly by a young photographer, Kiriko Mamiya, the two soon uncovers the many strings of connections between the victims, a local pharmaeccutical company, a mysterious new religious sect and strange half human, half animal creatures which roams the night streets out for blood. (from wikipedia) Based on the early 1970's manga that inspired the Kamen Rider series. The first Episode (or Episode 0 how some call it) was a live action special that serves as a prequel to the series. Opening:

Won't watch. That'll be my default answer for like 99.99999% of the titles coming up

^Then why post in the thread? Looks pretty interesting and I need some new animes after watching all of Death Note and Monster.

I inspired a thread, cool! Even my biggest thread didn't pull that off (I was the originator of the SSB Brawl thread as well, though Vyse ran it much better than I did).
I'm on the office computer at the moment so I can't view the opening, but it sounds cool enough.

No, because it sounds very generic for Japanese animation.
The last anime that wasn't generic Hacky/Slashy, Annoying magical school girl crap, was BECK, which was based on a bunch of teenagers forming a Rock Band.

Might consider watching. Looked it up on a hentai site, nothing was found of it.

Hm, well, I should reply by listing out all the anime after Beck I know that doesn't fit the genre you listed, but I just woke up~ Still, I'll probably just post them in later threads.

Two days left. Next time I'll probably cut the time to vote before lock by one day, methinks.

Let it be known that I'll vote "will watch" on everything. There are so many series that I'll never know where my next favorite thing will show up. That and I don't discriminate anime series.

I'd like to not discriminate, but generally I know what I'll like and what I won't.
I guess it just comes from years of watching it, but I tend to avoid the Shonen Jump-esque anime like the plague. None of it does anything for me, and unfortunately that's most of what's on TV right now.
Just not my thing at all.

Once the prime time/night block of anime airs, things get less Shonen Jump. Then again just cause it is in Shonen Jump doesn't mean it follows the Naruto/Bleach/Yu Yu Hakusho/One Piece formula. Death Note, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Hikaru no Go are Shonen Jump series and they hardly follow "the formula". I mean take for instance in Hikaru no Go. Hikaru loses a lot of times, especially early on or when he plays world champion Go players.

Eh, Hikaru no Go and Yu-Gi-Oh! still feel very formulaic to me. I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just saying they're not my style at all.
I'll give you Death Note though.
And when I say SJ-esque, I don't necessarily mean FROM SJ, just...the general formula a good chunk of the series seem to follow.
And even the nighttime stuff has been pretty lackluster for awhile to me.
But I haven't had a chance to catch Code Geass or anything, so I have no idea if that's any good or not.

Oh, I mean the night time series in Japan. The US' night time series are mostly series shown in the day time in Japan. Except for the anime Sci-Fi Channel airs in their Ani-Monday time spot.

Yeah, the Ani-Monday stuff looks pretty cool. I just never get much time to watch TV.
I need to start collecting DVD sets or something. It would really help out on my whole "I'm terrible at watching TV" problem.

It would really help out on my whole "I'm terrible at watching TV" problem. Trust me it is much cheaper to buy the box sets than the single DVDs. Box sets run you around $100 or so, depending on the series and how long it has been out, while a single DVD can be $25-$35. And then there is the financial ass raping that is Hellsing: Ultimate. You pay the same price for the DVD as regular anime DVDs, however unlike other DVDs that have 4 to 6 episodes on them, Hellsing: Ultimate's has only TWO.

Yeah trust me, I'm only interested in box sets.
I come from the time when VHS at Suncoast were still the biggest way to get anime, and even that was just outright ludicrous. The first VHS of Gundam 0083 was 20 bucks. For TWO episodes. Two.
So yeah, I just stopped collecting for awhile, because f*** that. But with the advent of box sets/seasons, it's become a lot easier and cheaper.
And the advent of SunDevilDVD and other discounty sites, definitely a huge plus there too, for po' people like myself.
