How has nobody mentioned Brock-for-Broglio?

How has nobody mentioned Brock-for-Broglio? I had mentioned it in another thread, hence why I didn't here. Oh and speaking of Cleveland: Bartolo Colon and Tim Drew to the Expos for Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, Lee Stevens and Brandon Phillips. Stupid MLB forcing Omar Minaya to do a move he'd never do in a million years.

Albeit not a big name trade, it had HUGE implications in the long run.
The Indiana Pacers trading a very good center in Brad Miller to pick up the cancer that is Ron Artest.

Thing is, though, you can't necessarily call any of these trades "bad." You put somebody in a new environment, with a new team and new coaches and new teammates, and maybe that's what they need to pull it together. Would Pippen have been anything more than a journeyman had he not played alongside Jordan? Would the Vikings have even taken Emmitt and/or Woodson with those draft picks? (And this coming from a lifelong Vikings fan who still can't believe we did that)

Not a "bad" trade per say, but Mark Langston for Randy Johnson back in 89.

Here's a rumored trade that never happened:
Jaret Wright straight-up to the Expos for Pedro Martinez.
Supposedly the Expos wanted more from the Indians in the deal (obviously), but the story I heard was that John Hart felt Wright would develop into an ace, eventually. Meanwhile, Martinez had just won the damn NL Cy Young.
We all know what happened after that. Martinez gets sent to the Red Sox and plows through the American League, while Wright sucks it up for the next nine years.

Reminds me of a Met deal that was rumored to have been thought of: Jose Cruz Jr. to the Mets for a young A ball IF named...David Wright.

(And this coming from a lifelong Vikings fan who still can't believe we did that) I almost understood them doing it, since he was a beast up until that point that was a difference maker in whether you were close or whether you won. Any other team pulling off that trade might have looked like geniuses that gave away some of their future in return for making a Super Bowl run. Unfortunately, the Vikings did not have a decent enough passing game at the time. In essence, it is similar to the days where the best play that the Dallas Mavericks had in their playbook was to have Derrick Harper bring the ball up the court and just shoot it. Sure, the other team knew what they were going to do, but doing anything else was sure to fail where doing what was expected at least had a small measure of success. Walker still put up decent numbers despite opponents putting 8 in the box on EVERY down. If they had a passing game to speak of, the trade would have made them a contender, I think. Imagine if the Dolphins at the time made that trade. Walker AND Marino on the same offense? That would have been SCARY.

Horrible, unless you're me:
* Red Sox trade Heathcliff Effin' Slocumb to the Seattle Mariners for minor-leaguers Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek.

Another trade that never was. If the Rangers would've won the claim on Lindross Quebec would've gotten: Doug Weight Tony Amonte Alexei Kovalev John Vanbiesbrouck 1993 first round pick 1994 first round pick 1995 first round pick $12 million dollars
So they still would've been in good shape (Quebec/Colorado) That would've totally killed the Rangers though.

Up until last season, San Diego sending Eli Manning to Los Gigantes for picks that turned into Philip Rivers, Nate Kaeding, Shawne Merriman and a 2005 fifth-rounder that went to Tampa Bay for Roman Oben might've counted, but if anything, it'd go the other way with the Giants shafting San Diego. It's much more even than that, though.

This one happened last year:
Erik Bedard for Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Tony Butler, and Kameron Mickolio.
Bedard blows out his arm.
Jones becomes the O's center fielder of the future, paired with Markakis. Tillman is a highly touted prospect and is expected to be called up in 2010. Sherill is the O's closer.
Mickolio has loads of potential but is still young, as is Butler.

Since this thread's title includes moves as well as trades, how about:
1992 post season: Cubs let Maddux leave for ATL as a free agent Mike Hampton's free agent contract with the Rockies Barry Zito's free agent contract with the Giants 1992 post season: Pirates decide to retain Andy Van Slyke, while allowing Barry Bonds to depart as a free agent.
