This one happened last year: Erik Bedard for Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, Tony Butler, and Kameron Mickolio. Bedard blows out his arm. Jones becomes the O's center fielder of the future, paired with Markakis. Tillman is a highly touted prospect and is expected to be called up in 2010. Sherill is the O's closer. Mickolio has loads of potential but is still young, as is Butler. yeah, that trade sucked in everyway possible. Sherill was just bad luck by Seattle, but I was a huge fan of Jones, and every time he played, the announcers were very behind him, and he was already becoming a fan favorite in his 20 or so games on the major league roster. So of course Seattle traded him.

Colts trade Marshall Faulk to Rams for second- and fifth-round picks in 1999 draft.
Bucks trade Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Lakers for Elmore Smith, Junior Bridgeman, Brian Winters and Dave Meyers.
San Francisco gave up to get Steve Young from the Tampa Bay Bucs, second and fourth-round Draft selections.
Jerome Bettis got dealt to Pittsburgh and all the Rams got was again..... a second and fourth-rounder.
Randy Moss to New England for a fourth-round draft pick by the Raider was the dumbest sh*t in the world.

Mike Hampton's free agent contract with the Rockies. You know who the Mets got with that compensation pick? David Wright. Randy Moss to New England for a fourth-round draft pick by the Raider was the dumbest sh*t in the world. That's because Moss was being a dumbass at that point and was coming off a bad year.

Mavericks trade Robert "Tractor" Traylor to Milwaukee for Dirk Nowitzki
Red Sox trade Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen
Hawks trade Dominique Wilkins to the Clippers for Danny Manning
Dodgers trade Pedro Martinez to Montreal in a straight-up deal for second baseman Delino DeShields in 1993.
Red Sox trade Babe Ruth to Yankees for $100,000 in 1920.

Albeit not a big name trade, it had HUGE implications in the long run. The Indiana Pacers trading a very good center in Brad Miller to pick up the cancer that is Ron Artest. They got Brad Miller with Artest. The Pacers got Artest,Miller,Ron Mercer, and Kevin Ollie for Jalen Rose,Travis Best,Norman Richardson, and a 2nd round draft pick. Oops well I stand corrected, don't know why I thought that. But trading Brad Miller was really stupid when we could have used him in 2005.

The Atlanta Falcons trade the number 5 pick (LaDanian Tomlinson), number 67 pick, Tim Dwight and their 2nd round pick in 2002 for the number 1 pick (Michael Vick). I think the Chargers might have got the better end of that deal.
The Chicago Bulls trade Elton Brand for the rights to Tyson Chandler, and also Brian Skinner. As a Clippers fan, we loved that.
As far as Drafts go
"With the number 1 pick in the 1998 NBA Draft the Los Angeles Clippers select Michael Olowokandi."
The Clip Show could have had Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, Dirk, or Paul Pierce.

Hawks trade Dominique Wilkins to the Clippers for Danny Manning I don't really think it was a bad move because 'Nique was at the twilight of his career.

Think about it like this, the Chargers never won a AFC or Superbowl title with LT and even though the Falcons got a bust in Vick, that bust and trade eventually led them to geting Michael Turner who was LT's backup and this year's Rookie of the Year Matt Ryan. Turner is younger and could potentially be better than L.T. and I think Ryan is a better QB than Rivers.

I can't remember the exact details but as I remember, when the L.A. Kings traded Wayne Gretzky to St. Louis they got jack shit in return. probably the best hockey player ever and they gave him away for peanuts. say what you will about trading him from Edmonton to L.A., the Oilers came out of that trade a whole hell of a lot better than L.A. did when they traded him to the Blues.

Jermaine O'Neil was also a free agent and they wanted to keep him. They did a sign and trade to the kings, a 7 year 68 mill deal. O'Neil stays for 7 years and 126 million.

Possibly one of the few moves that entirely cost a team multiple championships but the Portland Trailblazers having the #2 draft pick and picking.....Sam Bowie over Charles Barkley, Kevin Willis, John Stockton, oh and Michael freaking Jordan.

At first, I'd say pretty much any dumbass trade by the Bruins before the current crop, but it's worked out. Took a few years, but hey.
