-Marlins trade Carlos Delgado to the Mets for Yusmeiro Petit, Mike Jacobs, and Grant Psomas. Delgado was yet another player who helped the Mets to the 2006 playoffs. Since then, the Marlins have gotten rid of Jacobs and Petit and Psomas is going nowhere.
-Reds trade Frank Robinson to the O's for Milt Pappas, Jack Baldschun, and Dick Simpson.
-Portland selects Moses Malone in the ABA dispersal draft...then trades him away to Buffalo for a first rounder...who spin him around a week later to Houston for TWO first rounders.
-Mets trade Tom Seaver to Reds for Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson, Dan Norman, and Pat Zachry.

That one hurt over here. The radio pundits and sportscasters were foaming at the mouth over it. I knew someone who for quite a while was talking about a plan to kill Peter Angelos. They coveted Maine that much? He had a pretty zig zag minor league career (the prospect books went from calling him an ace to calling him a 5th starter in a year with Main eventually settling in between.) No, it's just that everyone here hates Peter Angelos and any error the Orioles management makes we condemn and rave about as soon as possible.

Padres trade Fred McGriff to Braves for Melvin Nieves, Donnie Elliott, and Vince Moore. Wow, Padres got kicked in the ass in that move. -Mets trade Robert Person for John Olerud. -Texas Rangers trade Esteban Loaiza to the Toronto Blue Jays for Darwin Cubillan and Michael Young. -San Francisco Giants trade Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano and Boof Bonser to the Minnesota Twins for A.J. Pierzynski.

Indians trade home run champ Rocky Colavito to the Tigers for batting champ Harvey Kuenn. This was recognized as the beginning of the Indians' downfall into mediocrity for the next 30 years, and was labeled "The Colavito Curse". It was also the most infamous move in the tenure of GM Frank "Trader" Lane, along with his trade of Roger Maris to the Kansas City A's.

Most of the Bengals draft choices in the 90s In the 90's the Bengals selected 6 players that would go to the Pro Bowl. 2 of them were selected when they didn't even play for the Bengals, Takeo Spikes and Daryl Williams. The other ones were Corey Dillon, T-Mack, Willie Anderson, and Carl Pickens. Damn, the Bengals drafts in the 90's absolutely sucked. This doesn't even mention such classic picks as David Klingler, Ki-Jana Carter and Dan Wilkinson.

Another infamous trade that never happened. Ted Williams to the Yankees for Joe DiMaggio.

Oh yeah.....if we are talking about draft moves that would later come back to haunt everyone.
Every team who allowed Tom Brady to go in the sixth round to the New England Patriots

With the Number 2 Pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select:
Darko Milicic, Hemofarm Vrsac.
Even though they won the NBA Championship the following year, Darko was nothing more than a disappointment for a No. 2 draft pick, especially with Carmelo, Chris Bosh, and Wade all right after him.
In short: he's this decade's Sam Bowie: had possible potential, but absolutely has not shown it whatsoever.

And I still think that Darko was the one who threw the chair in the Malice at the Palace.

How has nobody mentioned Brock-for-Broglio? I had mentioned it in another thread, hence why I didn't here. Oh and speaking of Cleveland: Bartolo Colon and Tim Drew to the Expos for Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, Lee Stevens and Brandon Phillips. Stupid MLB forcing Omar Minaya to do a move he'd never do in a million years. I distinctly remember this trade and this Expos' season as a fan of the Expos-now-Nats and do not recall how (or why) the Expos would be forced by MLB to trade the farm for Colon. In fact, Cliff Floyd also made a pitstop there for a quarter of the season. Was that also big, bad MLB making them trade for All Stars and trying to win for a change? Please explain.

More profitable to sell. He was also a half year deal anyway, traded before the start of the next season to the White Sox. And wasn't he a free agent after that anyway.
How about Mo Vaughn? A somewhat average first year for the Mets but only played 27 more games next season for 17 million.

I guess in looking back this was the time in which MLB owned the Expos and could dictate their dealings. But call me crazy for thinking about only on-the-field things and forgetting the instability of the franchise.

I think it was 1999, but when the Angels got Mo Vaughn for about $80 million. We picked him over Mark McGwire, who only wanted half of the $80 million Oh, and Mark McGwire also convinced Jim Edmonds to leave Anaheim
