I'm going through my comics collections today and I'm finding that I appreciate this particular comic a lot more now that I'm older.
The raccoon storyline was pretty dang heatwrenching.

Easily my favourite comic strip of all time. It was touching when it needed to be, always hilarious, very smart, the art was great...it was just perfect. Absolutely perfect.
I spent a good portion of my childhood reading the C&H collections I had. Just amazing stuff.

I love Calvin and Hobbes. I love them so much I got this is on my right arm. Such a great comic. I also love the way Bill Watterson stuck to his principles and never licenced out his work.

My cousin gave me a bootleg C&H t-shirt when I was 14, I still have it to this day. It's ratty as hell and looks like a throw rag but I'm never getting rid of it.

Got the gorgeous Complete Calvin and Hobbes a couple years ago. Just a flat-out wonderful beautiful piece of art, and one of the great examples of something finishing before getting stale.

It was great. I'd put it behind the Far Side in my personal pantheon, but love both for much the same reasons- they were always funny, creative, original etc and both creators ended them before they became stale. Gotta respect that.

Gotta respect that. Far Side fan, you say? And here I thought I was the ONLY one. But yeah, I agree with you totally there.
