I think I have a shopping problem. Whenever I go somewhere I have to buy something. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't buy anything at Hollister because it was getting to the point were I couldn't take it anymore. I think I have a huge obsession of buying clothes. Before you go around joking I have found out that there are other people that have compulsive shopping problems. I think mine isn't as bad as everyone else. I had to buy stuff from American Eagle because it was cheaper. I also ordered a bunch of stuff that should be coming through the mail from Banana Republic, Gap, and Hollister. Does anyone here have a shopping problem where they have to buy something where ever they go, it doesn't have to be like clothes.

I have the same problem, but replace stores with cars, and buying with f***ing.
naw, but seriously, I probably spend a little more cash than I should, but I always keep more than $300 in my account, so I don't see what the problem for me. Its usually my friends, one of whom is unemployed himself(i have a job), giving me crap about buying stuff. Its always those who don't see my bank statements.

My advice would be to just not take that much money with you. Take only enough cash to eat and leave the rest at home. That's what I do. I used to have to buy things all the time(usually cd's) so I just stopped taking that much money with me if I went places. After a while,it wasn't a big deal.

Yeah I don't have a job, I worked a lot this summer made over 3000 dollars and now I only have a balance of 108.00 and I need the rest for college and other stuff. I need to find a job.

My sister has an obessesion with nail varnishes. She'll want to go down The Mall on a Saturday and then I get dragged to Superdrug and I'm not joking, we've been in there half an hour choosing nail colours.
I'm like, Becky, can you not just pick a f***ing colour and buy it! And then once she's got nail varnishes she has to try the body sprays on and look at the shampoos.

I used to spend like a teenage arab in my younger days, now I'm stingy.

This is easy:
Don't take credit cards with you or take a minimal amount of cash ($30 or under).
Find less expensive tastes - shop at Goodwill (especially this time of year as today is the last day for 2008 charitable donations and maybe some rich folks are cleaning out their closets to give themselves good tax writeoff come April).
Stop being a brand-a-holic. Hollister and A&F clothing I find to be no better than AE or Gap or Old Navy for that matter.
Take a friend with you and have them punch you in the face if you exceed $30 on any purchases.

I really don't know what to do because one of my dreams was to get my degree in Graphic Design and work for Abercrombie & Fitch by producing there clothes design.

I used to order everything under the sun off Amazon when I first got a debit card but I've cooled it a bit (partly because my room is small and I'm running out of space for my junk)

I feel for you, really. I wound up getting addicted to spending in my own right, esp with the trenchcoats and the suits, and it took me years to get over it. By then, the damage was done, but I have a bright enough future to deal with it.
Biggest cost savings measure was mentioned here: stop buying the brand names

I watched True Life on MTV the other day and they showed two people who are compulsive shoppers, I really couldn't take it because I could possibly end up like them someday if I don't change.

Too much money and/or too much spare time. Jokes aside, you just need to give yourself an "overdraft limit". Something like "no more than ___$ a month on clothes" and a "no more than ___$ for this or that item". I've found out it works rather well, and it has helped me slowing down with my eBay shopping spree. And don't worry, sooner or later you will learn (possibly the hard way) how to have priorities about how to spend your money... Unless you'll turn into one of those people who can barely eat twice a day but drive expensive sportscars wearing fancy clothes.

I used to be a little bad, but I'm now pretty much a cheapskate as I'm broke. Plus, I started having more fun looking for insanel good deals... like going to the grocery and buying $5-$6 worth of groceries with coupons and spending like .30 cents. ...or finding Mario Kart 64 at the Salvation Army for $1.75. ...or when I got my dad a set of $150 Chicago Cutlery knives for $30 at Boscov's I got some of a "buzz" from buying stuff I wanted, but I found if I find something at an insane price, it's a lot better. 50%... 75%... 90% off is where it's at.

I only buy what my wife lets me No, but cut up your credit cards if it's really a problem. The last thing you need is huge debt at a young age.

I can go months where I hardy buy anything that isn't essential, then I go on relatively huge spending sprees on crap I don't need. I even bought a linen shirt on my last spree, I live in England what the f*** was I thinking?
