In all honesty, I've in recent years tried to avoid MTV like a plauge due to all of the considerably crappy tripe that they pass off as programming (typically, bottom of the barrell scraping, scripted reality shows) these days. The only times that I bothered tuning in on a lenghty basis was for the 2008 VMAs and for the last episode of "TRL". Last year, MTV had the nerve to build their New Year's show around that talentless shank, Tila Tequila. Now, they're using their "FNMTV" show (pretty much the only thing on that channel relatively resembling music these days, not that "TRL" is no longer on the air) to center on Miley Cyrus (one of the most overexposed celebrities that I can think of in recent memory). And this is one of the things that I utterly hate the most about MTV these days. Instead of being cutting edge and innovative, they now a days follow whatever is considered hip, trend and cool in the eyes of tweens/teenyboppers at the moment (a la Miley Cyrus). They should be leading instead of following if you ask me.

I hear they sent Miley to Michael Buckley(Host of a popular Youtube show and is pretty funny) house. Of course I don't have cable so didn't watch it. She's very annoying and her voice makes me want to punch people.

I was searching through Television Without Pity, and one of the users were comparing MTV's New Year's show to basically being a glorified episode of their show "Made". I agree with the user, that MTV has pretty much given up trying to put on a good show.

What's truly depressing is the fact that MTV didn't even bother to stick around following the countdown to midnight. Instead, they immediately went to such "quality" programming as "A Double Shot of Love". I'm becoming convinced that Satan is programming MTV.

To me, the only way you can watch New Years (if you do watch it) is with Dick Clark. Unfortunately, once he's gone, he'll be replaced by Ryan Seacrest, which makes me kinda cringe.

Nah, because if he was there would be hockey on MTV. Not Miroslav Šatan but Beelzebub I was waiting to see if someone would catch that. And Satan's not fooling anyone by pronouncing his name like that.
