So, i just got back from my sister's house from the New Years party she threw with my family and my brother-in-law's family and friends.
Now, an hour before the ball dropped, ESPN had finished their Chik-fil-a Bowl coverage of the frigging LSU blowout of GATech or something. They were advertising these 2 daredevils, and we were gonna watch the one where the guy jumped the Arc in Las Vegas.
Anyway, we also ended up switching to seeing "The Dark Knight" for a while. About 10 minutes before midnight, we switched back to ESPN. We also saw the Dick Clark New Years coverage. We celebrated the new year, before I switched over to ESPN. Now, there was a jump earier in the night, but we also had the motorcycle jump on the Arc.
Here's the thing. The whole thing took about 30 seconds. The whole building was AN HOUR AND A HALF! These guys talked about how things can go wrong, showed CGI examples of how he can crash, showed us what injures he had before, his last jump over a football field, thoughts from his fiancé and trainer, and even explaining what his frigging bike was made of! FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF!
It was about 4 guys watching at the start, and ended up being everyone at the party of 10 or so watching me and this other kid just crack jokes and make fun of it. Then, after a couple of test runs, he did the stunt, which lasted only about 30 seconds total. Then we went back to watching "The Dark Knight".
Well, at least I bonded great with my in-laws. Just, oh my god, what a damn waste of time. It's was just worse than those reality shows with their elimination rounds.
