Knowing Tom Rothman, I'm sure that he's going to f*** things up all over again:

Thought you were done with the blind superhero when Ben Affleck disappointed us all in 2003? Think again. Hollywood seems to be much more open to reboots and re-imaginings ever since The Dark Knight took the world by storm. And it must be coincidental that it was just earlier today that I was talking with a friend about whether it would be too early to see Daredevil return. Robert over at IESB has been talking with 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman extensively about the studio's future. In their latest discussion, they talked about comic book movies and Rothman specifically mentioned the character. "A Daredevil, to use your words, reboot, is something we are thinking very seriously about."
At this point, so many obscure and lesser known characters (like Iron Man and Green Lantern) from both the Marvel and DC universes are being turned into action movie superstars. Daredevil is a great character and has so much potential, but just got screwed over by Mark Steven Johnson nearly five years ago. Hollywood's current careless attitude allows them to just throw away a movie like that and start all over again from scratch, whether it's five or ten years after the original. And if that means we get to finally see a good Daredevil movie, then I'm all for it. Of course, we need to see that this reboot is a drastic improvement over the original and there are so many important factors that go into making that possible.
Rothman explained to IESB that "when they did Batman Begins, the first Nolan movie, that you can have made some mistakes along the way or movies that the audience wasn't that crazy about and then given the proper amount of time and the right creative vision behind it, you can, to use your word, reboot." He remarkably makes a very good point with that statement - with the right amount of time and creativity, any intellectual property can be "rebooted." Although I'm not often satisfied with Fox's decisions recently, this time Rothman seems to be on top of things. "It needs someone, it needs a director, honestly, who has a genuine vision. What we wouldn't do is just do it for the sake of doing it."
I know there are actually a lot of fans out there of the original Daredevil movie (or at least the Director's Cut). But then again, there are still plenty of fans of Tim Burton's Batman who probably loved The Dark Knight anyway. So I would say that it seems reasonable to reboot Daredevil and make another movie with another director that is truly passionate about the project, but I guess the big question is whether or not it can truly be improved upon. I actually thought the way the sonar vision was portrayed in that fantastic and I can't think of any better ways to do that. Does the character of Daredevil actually have the makings of a superhero that can compete with Batman and Spider-Man and Iron Man? What do you think?
