I have been converting my VHS to DVD over the past few weeks and have seen some of my tapes with a lot of lines/snow. Obviously if I tape this over to a DVD the fuzziness goes over onto the DVD. Is there a way I can get rid of this?

I don't think so. Some VCR's have a Reality regenerator which help to improve the picture quality but if your original copy is knackered there isn't much you can do.

The only thing I could recommend is maybe using a head cleaner in the video player before you dub again. If the source of the static is in anyway related to the player itself, it might help.
