Merry Christmas everyone
I've read Mick Foleys book and been a fan of the 1998 King of the Ring Hell in a Cell Match between Mankind and The Undertaker.
As I understand, Mick Foley told the Undertaker he planned to be thrown off the top of the cage, however did he tell the Spanish Announce team?
I was just interested as if the fall was misjudged it could have been a serious accident.
Also I've seen footage of the fall a million times, however only JR and the King commentating. Does anyone have the actually Spanish Commentary, I think it would be quite funny.
Cheers

I haven't seen it, so I really couldn't tell ya.

^ By "I haven't seen it yet, I couldn't tell you" I imagine he means the Spanish commentary.

I'm sure he did, but it would be stupid if they just stood up, waiting for Mick to fall. I have that match on VHS, and sure it's impressive, but I honestly think it's overrated. To be honmest it's more of a fight with spots than a wrestling match. But that's just my opinion.

I have to second that overrated call actually. Don't get me wrong i think what Foley did was UNREAL and he deserves all the credit in the world for continueing on with taht match, but there is just sooo much dead time there, for to call it the 98 match of the year can't do it, when HBK vs Taker Casket Match, HBK vs Austin, WM , Triple H vs The Rock Ladder Match Summer Slam were all better matches.

Mick says himself he doesn't consider it his best match by any means, just a captivating car wreck.
Seen his favorite, Mind Games, and damn, do I love that match. I would of loved to see him and HBK work more.

I also think this match was over rated. Just a lot of spots. More of a stunt act than a wrestling match. There is also a lot of 'dead time' in there. Still props to Foley for taking both falls. The guy really is a great stunt man but not such a great wrestler. However his work with Michaels and to a lesser degree Austin and The Rock was good.

I have never over rated the match, never thought it was that great, however those two big bumps make it instantly recogniseable, the fact Mankind actually won that match makes a mockery of it because while Foley done well to stay alive yet alone finish the match he was in no fit condition, it was as poor a finish as Owen allowing Austin to pin him despite having a broken neck, I think in circumstances like that the referee has to make the call, its easy to get the correct result another time

Punctuation is your friend.

I think matches like this mean a lot more to people who watched the PPV live and were fans of WWE back then. Watching it then, the match was not merely a match with two big spots.

Agreed entirely, emotion and surprise are big parts of wrestling and these are lessened as the years go by (especially as we've seen the fall hundreds of times). I can see why some wouldn't like it though.
