Plain and simple, I miss how a few years ago they would always have one face commentator and one heel commentator. By heel and face, I mean that King would cheer on the bad guys, like he used to love Evolution, and JR would be the opposite. Now it seems that since it's kid-friendly even the announcers have to be nicer.

Lawler hasn't been a full heel in a decade. He was tweenerish when he supported factions like the McMahon/Helmsley Era and Evolution, but he openly cheered for faces like the Rock.

Lawler always had personal favourites like Owen Hart, The Rock, or Randy Orton (two out of those 3 worked quite a bit in Memphis it should be noted) who he'd support whether they were face or heel. But he was largely favourable to the heels up until 2005. These days he just seems to be just playing himself rather than a character any more, although when he is in storylines he's still one of the greats at getting them over. I can't help thinking if Santino had been around in the late 90s Lawler would be cheering him on, with that maniacal school girl laugh he used to have

JBL wasn't completely heel-loving and face-bashing either.
JBL personally loved guys like Matt Hardy, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick, even putting them over when they were facing heels.
JBL also hated The Miz and Sylvan despite being heels, and for a brief time even hated MVP.

JBL was completely heel-loving and face-bashing either. JBL personally loved guys like Matt Hardy, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick, even putting them over when they were facing heels. JBL also hated The Miz and Sylvan despite being heels, and for a brief time even hated MVP. JBL was perfect. JBL and Matt Striker would be an awesome announce team as they both have in-ring experience, Matt could be the face play-by-play and JBL could be the heel color comentator.

See, I think Striker could be a great heel announcer if they'd let him.

Yeah, Striker needs to be more heelish.

See, I think Striker could be a great heel announcer if they'd let him. He already has 2 pieces of the trifecta that makes a great wrestling heel: He's smart and good looking. (Betcha can't guess what the third one is.)
