I'd known about Lesnar for quite a while before he debuted.
My town is on the Wyoming/South Dakota border, and we get a South Dakota Newspaper, they'd been going on about Lesnar for about a year before he debuted as he was from a town near there. Webster South Dakota, that's it.

And I was there live! I must say that I was a fan the second after he killed those jobbers.

See I didn't have any idea who Brock was or if he was just another hoss...but I knew the minute I saw Heyman with him that I should pay attention. This is what WWE needs to realise when debuting people that aren't that well known. If you stick them with an established person then the fans will hone in immediately. We would still moan about WWE bringing in a green hoss Anyway, greatest debut was and still is, IMO; Undertaker. Cool build-up, awesome looking character and a wonderfully played gimmick. All of that, a long time before people already knew about "mystery partners" and "surprise debuts". Kane is a close second, in terms of cool debut, but the fact people were expecting Kane to show up sooner or later and they knew who he was, ruined it a bit. About Jericho... meh... IMO it's largely overrated. It was world's worst kept secret, the fans were expecting it, and it killed the surprise effect.

I kinda liked Mankind's.
He beats Bob Holly, and later in the night, kicks the crap out of the Undertaker

I remember being absolutley stunned when Brock did this. I knew, straight away, that I had just seen something momentous.

Wasn't that match he messed up a hardcore title match? I was surprised no one tried to snatch it. Though, Paul Heyman pinning one of them and getting it would of been awesome as a heel move. I would have loved to see Lesnar pin one of them, be awarded the belt and then throw the belt away to show how the belt was beneath him. The Hardcore title was retired not long after, so it wouldn't have made much difference.

Him dragging Spike Dudley from the floor to the powerbomb lift absolutely seamlessly is one of the coolest things I've seen in wrestling ever.

Actually I think they might've tried that with Heidenreich and it fell flat.

Yeah, I remember watching that and being all like "what did I just witness".
Was was even better was the draft was a week or two later, and all of a sudden Brock just came in and really mixed things up and was played off as a big pick. He really spiced things up.

I remember grabing one of the last issues of WOW magazine that had a story about him being signed to a developmental deal and going to OVW. I didn't think much of him because amatuer wrestlers in the attitude era really needed to have something to get over (Angle did) when he debuted he was huge and squashed people flat. They promoted this as well as you can promote a new comer. It being the best ever eh...nah I actually liked the way Goldberg came into the wwe. I know we knew he was comming but the RAW he debuted and squashed the Rock got me excited about wrestling

On November 12, 2001 I saw both Brock and Randy Orton wrestle dark matches before RAW.

Webster South Dakota, that's it. I can go one better than that. When he was wrestling at Minnesota I was wrestling in High School in Des Moines. Our head coach was a college teammate of Minnesota head coach J Robinson, so our school got a special deal to work out during the summer at Minnesota's wrestling camp. At that camp we worked out with the Minnesota wrestlers. I was a heavyweight and actually wrestled with Lesnar some 3 years before he made it in the WWE. And before you ask, yes he completely destroyed me.

The clothesline, and powerbombs to Spike were amazing! Didn't he have a Singapore Cane match with Dreamer without bothering to use the cane once?

That was awesome. I wish injuries hadn't held back Tazz. If he had gotten neck surgery, he probably would of gone further. Maybe not much further, but we'll never know. I can understand his reluctance, though, since he's done well for himself behind the announce table.
