Where do you think he would be in the WWE today if he wasn't directing porn instead? Think he'd be doing anything with Edge?

Actually I recently wanted to make a thread about him. I think he had an underrated gimmick that could have went farther. I think they could have stood up against the Ministry, but they were low on the hierarchy.

The stupid goth/emo gimmick held him back IMO. Good wrestler but I cant watch someone who predends to be a vampire.

I don't really think so. The only thing he really had going for him was his cool entrance. And you can only milk that for so long.

Anyone could have gone farther, but I say they did a decent job with Gangrel. He probably went about as far as he could go.

IIRC, Gangrel was plagued with injuries in late 1999 and into 2000. When he returned from that, he'd lost whatever drive he had and was basically just a feature player on Jakked and Heat until he was released in early 2001.
And yes, he was out injured when they released him.
Without those injuries, I think he'd have stuck around a little longer. Though I think joining the Ministry really hurt him (and for a time, E&C), it turned his gimmick into a bit supporting role in the Undertaker's gang.

When he first appeared I thought he would at least get a main event run. I had heard about him in the Black Harts and wanted to see what he could do.
He could have used E+C to be his attack dogs and made waves IMO.

I liked the gimmick to a point.
His entrance was cool, his look was neat and he had a sick looking ddt.

He was going to be used in ECW, but was never able to get into good enough shape.

I seen him from when he was still in the Memphis region. He was a largew enough guy, but he was not a decent worker or talker by any means.

I watched something from RF, and Gangrel was talking to a bunch of people learning to wrestle. One of his many issues when he came in, besides coming in injured was he kept screwing up some lines on a promo. Edge in the promo ended up saying something that saved the promo, and Gangrel talked about how Edge is there now and he isn't. Not saying Edge took his thunder, but Edge got himself over and helped out with the interview.
So, there were a lot of things happening that lead to Gangrel not being as successful as he could have been.

Maybe a Tag Team title run, maybe European, not much further than that.

His gimmick was routed in the early 90s and he never really showed how well he could work in how many styles. He was solid in his role, might even have got a transitional IC run, but nothing more.
