Michael Cole = Don West. Simple as that. Now now... let's not go TOO far. That's how I feel about ANY wrestl.... ahem, sports entertainment announcer who can make me stop watching.

Geez, watching that made me remember how great a heel Stone Cold was for the Invasion angle, "What"s and all. This happened the following episode on SD!, if it's possible Austin emasculates Cole even more than the first video:

I snorking hate that needledick mothersnorker too, man. He's the most awkward snorker I've ever heard, and every week I want to bash his little snorking head in. That's right, his HEAD. Not his SKULL, for chrissake!
At least get a commentator who will bash him, like JBL did. Damn, those were good days.
Edit: I'm sure there's some sort of rule against wishing harm against a performer, and if I broke it, let me know and I'll tone this down. In the meantime, though, I stand by my desire to curbstomp Michael Cole.

Don't forget "We could have a NEW CHAMPION" after someone hits a trasnsition move that never gets them a win Look, Cole sucks, yes, but wrestling announcers aren't just grown on trees. Remember, Mike Adamle was a completely competant announcer (or so we were lead to believe) before his WWE debut, and with one botch on his first night we wrote him off, paradied him, and eventually he became such a running joke that Stephanie referred to a verbal slip as "Pulling an Adamle" and I'm convinced that THE Brian Kendrick's gimmick has a bit of a root in his flubs. Back on subject, let's not hang Cole in effigy til we find someone more competant than him, k? *vintage voice of reason by Jay Carroll there, King*

I know I'm in the extreme minority, but I don't hate Cole. The guy has to carry King, when he was working with Tazz and JBL, Cole showed he was good. He had excellent chemistry with both guys. Yeah, Michael Cole is just...just terrible. And is Dolph Ziggler really undefeated? Didn't Batista beat him in his debut? It's not like Cole to snork up a Batista factoid. Lover's quarrel? I said it in the Raw thread, Dolph now has Snitsky's gimmick. No matter how many times he loses, he's undefeated.

The biggest problem I've always had with Cole's announcing is the fact that you can tell he's not really a fan of wrestling, but rather just does this as a job and nothing more. Which is fine, because it takes different strokes to move the world, but it's just that reason that I can't get into his announcing. It's so emphatically feigned, that I'm just not feeling it. Listen to Jim Ross, or hell, even Matt Striker, and they sound GENUINELY interested in what they're watching. You can tell they're passionate about wrestling, and not simply earning a paycheck. I give props to the guy for coming as far as he has since debuting in 1997, but as a fan, like I said, I just can't get into his announcing.

I've never liked the guy myself. He steals lines all the time from whoever his broadcast partner at the time may be. I mean, when the hell did Michael Cole ever say things like "rear naked choke", "forearm shiver", or "shoots the half" before he started working with Tazz? Then he suddenly started saying that crap all the time. It's incredibly irritating. He also used to have this really irritating habit of trying to stir up RAW vs. SmackDown crap when there was never any reason for it. For example, during the WrestleMania 22 Money in the Bank ladder match. When Matt Hardy and Finlay help Shelton Benjamin pull Lashley off of the ladder, he says "Two SmackDown guys just helped a RAW guy pull another SmackDown guy off the ladder!!!". No kidding, you blithering idiot. Did it ever occur to you that they might want to, oh, I don't know, win the match themselves

Well y'know what. I like Michael Cole. I think he is a great commentator who adds a lot to the matches. But that is my opinion.

Joey Styles has awful chemistry with King, though.
Not like Cole is much better, but if Styles was such an easy answer, they would do that.

When CM Punk won the title it was obviously quite a shock but he sounded so forced. People make fun of JR for "orgasming" when Austin won but give me an over the top "STONE COLD! STONE COLD!" any day.
