Why does everyone claim he was misused in WWE? I've heard even seen people go so far as saying he was burried and that his character was ruined. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didnt Goldberg come out on top of just about every feud he was involved in? Didnt Goldberg win the championship within months of coming to the wwe? Didnt Goldberg beat all the big names like HHH, The Rock, Kane, Lesnar......etc etc etc. How was he misused?

a) I wouldn't count the Lesnar match as it was both men's last in the company.
b) I agree with you but, they also did some damn stupid stuff like Goldberg meets Golddust. I think people's biggest bone of contention is Goldy not winning the WHC form Triple H at Summerslam.

Triple H retaining at Summerslam still pisses me off to this day.

I think the biggest mistake made with Goldberg was WWE signing him in the first place.
His relativity to wrestling ended when his streak ended imo.
He needed to be put in his place. I think it was a good decision for him not to win the title at Summerslam and hold it off just a bit longer.

Minus the final match he had, I thought he was booked just fine.

my biggest problem with Goldber is that WWE made him seem just like a normal upper-mid card/main-eventer, when he should have been a HUGE deal.

As somebody who rarely watched WCW I never liked Goldberg, in my eyes he'd done nothing to earn his place in the company. I hated how he was booked to be close to indestructible, it seemed like only the whole of evolution could stop him, even then Goldberg got the upper hand on occasion.

I hated how he was booked to be close to indestructible, it seemed like only the whole of evolution could stop him, even then Goldberg got the upper hand on occasion. Well the Goldberg character emerged in 1998 and got huge momentum partly because he was just someone new who they were giving a big push, rather than the old guys at the top, but also he was perceived as the unstoppable force who would finally take down the nWo after the fans didn't get the pay off they wanted with Sting at Starrcade 97. Essentially Goldberg could've been WCW's Steve Austin (who always beat Mr. McMahon in the end during his babyface run), though with much less wrestling ability. Of course, while Hogan did job to him clean once, they didn't really get a meaningful pay off with Goldberg either, but that's all part of the demise of WCW. So it made sense that if WWE wanted the fans to care about him again in 2003 they had to make him strong enough to single handedly take down Evolution, who were a very dominant heel faction at the time. Whether they did that enough is open to debate.

I knew why they didn't give him the title at SummerSlam, but it was still a stupid reason. Triple H was injured, yet got an extra month as champion, why not just give Goldberg the title in the Chamber?

That's how he was booked in WCW as well, I mean the guy wasn't exactly a small guy. He's a monster face, so it should take a group effort to bring him down.

I think the wig was a dumb move. You could say that he should have won the Elimination Chamber, but that could be seen as an effective step in setting up his revenge against Triple H.

I didn't really find anything wrong with his time in the company, although his title reign was a "blink and you missed it" type of thing. The one thing that stands out in my mind as crappy (besides the Goldberg/Lesnar match, which was a epic fail in delivery) was the angle they ran around breaking his ankle. Here we have a 300lb man running and doing all types of things on a "broken ankle". Yes, I understand he was billed as indestructable. But there's no way that you can stand, let alone run, on that type of injury.

From all that I've seen, he was largely booked as a dangerous mofo - i.e. destroying 3 Minute Warning, his Rumble '04 appearance, destroying The Rock in their match etc.

Batista finally does it, and Bill's out for what, a week? Two weeks, tops? If he had stayed home for a month or two, his pop upon his return to beat down Evolution would have been massive.

It'd be difficult considering he had a title defense against Trips at Survivor Series a week or so after his return, so they wanted him on TV on the go-home edition of Raw. The crowd still marked well for it, so I'd say it did it's purpose.

You mean the WCW marks hated the fact that Goldberg didn't get to bury the entire WWE roster? Seriously, that's the only thing different about his booking. In WWE his opponents got offense. I fail to see why this is bad.

I fail to see why this is bad. I'd say in WCW his opponents got in offense as well, minus the jobbers. He was taking on the likes of Saturn, Raven, DDP, Sting, Giant and took their best shots, so I don't think anyone is upset that he didn't do that. He got some real short matches in WWE as well against guys like Matt Hardy and Lance Storm also.

He should have won the title earlier. I think he was cooling off by the time he actually won it and when he did it was anticlimatic.

How long was he with the 'E? I can't remember much of his run, or even his title reign for that matter.
