Creative really dropped the ball with them. If they came along either 5 years earlier or 5 years later, they would of had the straps. Just my two cents.

In terms of a guy's "look", Phil Lafon made Cody Rhodes look like The Boogeyman. He was the textbook definition of "bland-looking" and Furnas wasn't too far behind.

They were a vanilla tag team in at the start of an era where vanilla just wasn't going to cut it.

They were a vanilla tag team in at the start of an era where vanilla just wasn't going to cut it. If vanilla by gimmick or look, I agree. Their performance wasn't vanilla. My thing is think of all the good/decent gimmicks given to crap workers or cronies, and those guys were screwed their first night out.

In a time with the headbangers, godwins, and others these two were boring super boring.. Which is sad because they were heads and tails above all of them. I also would argue that the Godwins were misused. They weren't great "wrestlers" but they were good brawlers, and I liked the heel turn. Somehow, it's Russo's fault.

Tag Team from 1997. Hey, the Godwins were the WWF's best chance to defeat the nWo.

For serial though, if they came on during the Hardyz/APA/Dudleyz/EnC/Too Cool era they'd be pretty much jobbers too

They seemed to get over pretty well at Survivor Series 96, but that was about their pinnicle. They could work today.
I never got why Phil Lafon could no longer be called Dan Kroffat.

I think they hit the WWE a little late and one of them might have become injured if memory serves. They were good in the ring, but a little bland in the personality department. Again though, I believe an injury plagued them just as they were getting exposure in WWE. Another reason I think they didn't work out in WWE is that WWE was going in a new direction and many of their acts became used less and less as WWE focused on a select group of talents and relegating the rest to weekend or syndicated shows. I did like Furnas and LaFon for what it's worth.

They had silly names. That's all I thought about them.

I think being tossed in with the Hart Foundation was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, they got big rub tagging with the Harts and getting screen time with them. But on the other hand, they were made to look like lackies and nobodies because they WEREN'ZT Harts, they were just losuy, heel Canadians doing heel things that they didn't much look like they naturally would do. Cuz they were natural babyfaces,

They were also in a car accident and out for much of 1997, so people just forgot about them.
Survivor Series 97 was their last show in the WWF. Did they leave in protest of what happened to Bret?

I didn't think much of either their ring work or personalities. There was much more interesting stuff than them.

I spent ages wondering why Furnas didn't tag with LaFon before the WWF, when it finally dawned on me.

I spent ages wondering why Furnas didn't tag with LaFon before the WWF, when it finally dawned on me. Yeah! That Dan Kroffat guy was a terrible partner! LaFon was such a better choice! Wait... what? He... they... Really?

They managed to drag a good match out of the fake outsiders, so yes they were underused

Here is them vs. The Hardys on Shotgun. It features a skinny Matt Hardy, and a famous Jeff Hardy Botch. This is from 1997.

That was a horrible botch from Jeff, I expect to be seeing that in a future Botchamania. I'm surprised he didn't break his back. As for Furnas and LaFon, I remember thinking these guys were okay back then, and looking at this video, they had some decent movesets and spots, but yeah, bland.
