Round 24 is here.
In the event of a tie both will carry on to the next day to meet some other challenger. I will try and vary the sources from comics to TV show characters.
I'm also going to add a bit of story to this to make it interesting, it's still a favorite poll but it's going to have continuity!
I will happily take requests for future opponents. But in the meantime we have to continue the story ...
--------------------------------------
*Last time Gambit was accused by Steel of working with the mystery burglar.*
Gambit: "Not me, I never seen that dude before."
Steel: Hmmm ... very well then I shall take your word for it, now I must try and track him down.
Gambit: "Not alone you won't, he has stolen something of ours."
*The two head over to the x-mansion garage for a car.*
*Much later we find Gambit and Steel in pursuit of a van on a motorway.*
Gambit: "You sure our mystery man is in this van, mon ami?"
Steel: "I'm certain"
*The rear doors of the van opens up and on the back stands Electro*
Electro: "Shocked? You will be .. ah ha ha"
*Electro starts hurling bolts of current at Gambit and Steel as they drive along.*
*Can Gambit defeat Electro in a high speed chase?*
Gambit
A mutant, Gambit possesses the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. This is manifest both internally and externally, energy charges his body giving him greater strength, stamina, and agility than any non-powered human, As well as being able to charge matter resulting in the violent and disproportionately powerful explosion of said matter through touch. The object he charges explode with a force somewhat proportional to the size of the object, though a playing card is as powerful as a hand grenade in Gambit's hands. Gambit has the ability to charge living as well is non living matter, though this ability is the source of much controversy in Gambit's life as well as the continuity and nature of the character. He almost never charges organic matter. He is also skilled in card throwing, hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a staff. A professional thief, few X-Men trusted Gambit when he first joined the group, a source of stress between him and his longtime on-again, off-again love interest Rogue. This was exacerbated when his connections to villain Mister Sinister were revealed, although some of his team members accept that Gambit honestly seeks redemption. As the X-Men's self-described ladies man, Gambit has shown a more vulnerable side of himself over the years, especially when it comes to Rogue. Gambit remains fiercely proud of his Louisiana heritage, and speaks in a very thick, Cajun accent. One of his defining traits is that he used to be a smoker, along with Wolverine.
vs
Electro
Maxwell Dillon more commonly known as Electro is a super-villain and foe of Spider-Man. Originally Max told his mother he wished to become an electrical engineer. Anita, not wanting him to be angry if he failed, convinced him he was not intelligent enough, and Max reluctantly took a job as a lineman for an electric company. While he was repairing a power line, a freak lightning accident resulted in a mutagenic change in his nervous system, transforming Dillon into a living electrical capacitor. Taking the name Electro, he turned to a life of a professional criminal, his first victim being J. Jonah Jameson. Electro broke into the Daily Bugle Building and stole Jameson's safe right in front of him. Jameson accused Spider-Man of being an alternate identity of Electro, prompting Spider-Man to prove the publisher wrong. During his confrontation with Electro, Spider-Man was nearly killed when he touched the electrically charged supervillain. Spider-Man eventually used a fire hose to short-circuit Electro. Electro has been a part of various criminal organisations from the Sinister Six to the Hood's current criminal group. Electro can generate massive quantities of electricity, theoretically up to approximately one million volts. He can employ this electrostatic energy as lightning arcs from his fingertips, and his maximum charge is more than enough to kill a normal human. When his body is charged to high levels, he becomes superhumanly strong and fast. He can also glide over power lines by using the electricity contained therein for propulsion, and he has on occasion been shown to actually ride on lightning bolts. During a stint in prison, Doctor Octopus gave him the ideas of ionizing metals and sparking the petroleum in the fuel tank of a vehicle as a way to generate explosions. He can charge himself up to make himself more powerful. He can also absorb the energy of electrical equipment such as a power plant to increase his powers further.
