So I just saw the article about the Dodgers new offer for Manny...and are they now seriously bidding against themselves? I mean, now it's still the $25M for this year, plus a player only $20M option for next year.
I guess Boras is a better agent than we thought if he can convince the Dodgers to keep upping the offer after it's clear that no one else seems to be bidding.

Don't believe the Rangers are run by incompetent, cheapskate, morons? Here's a little proof....
General manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday that the Rangers have not initiated long-term contract talks with Josh Hamilton, but "may have those discussions with him" soon. "We're going to put some thought into whether a multiyear deal makes sense at this point," Daniels said.
Let me translate for you what Daniels is saying......We are going to sit around and wait as long as we can and hope that some team throws out a trade offer with a lot of prospects that will never pan out, but that we can talk up for 4 or 5 years to give a sense of false hope for the future, just like we have the last 8 years, so we don't have to actually open up the wallet and pay our best hitter.

Manny has rejected the Dodgers 2yr/$45mil offer.
...I don't get it, either.

Manny has rejected the Dodgers 2yr/$45mil offer. ...I don't get it, either. He's not going to get an offer like that on the open market this Spring/Summer. At this point, I think he and Boras are just being stubborn. Admit fault and accept the offer, guys, because at this point you've blown multiple chances at contracts for at least the next two years.

Boras, you lost. Take the deal. Not only do you get the obscene salary you want this year, you control the option next year so he can hit the open market again.
The only thing I can think is that Manny wants a long term deal so he can just stop trying and collect a paycheck. If he gets a one or two year deal he can't do that since he probably wants to play until at least 40.
God what a moron. Of course, the Dodgers upped it once already, so who knows?

It's not that Manny wants to be the highest paid player in the game. He simply recognizes that his skill level dictates that he SHOULD be compensated as such. Add in the Scott Boras powder keg, and you get a situation where Manny won't take a fantastic deal.

Yeah Im actually going with Manny and Boras here, if the Dodgers really didnt want him they would have gone elsewhere by now but they have kept making offers and are now out of other options so Manny can go ahead and hold out for 2/50

If Manny Ramirez wanted to be paid with time shares on the moon, I'd tell my team's GM to get NASA on the phone. He is an elite, Hall-of-Fame caliber hitter who absolutely is a game-changer, especially in the National League.

Phillies released Adam Eaton. One player I'm actually glad to see leave Philly. He should be arrested for grand larceny for the money he stole from this team.

Its being reported that Boras had a counter offer of 2yrs/$55m.
I say Manny should do what A-Rod did and have a meeting with the Dodgers without Boras.
