I remember him owning Kurt Angle. I don't understand why people take it so personally. Theres no shame in losing to a professional fighter. They're trained in actually hurting people, not pretending to hurt people. The dude was over as well. Listen to those people when he stepped into the ring and the "UFC" chants. He was pretty much the favorite.

"I was in OVW. And we had this one town in Kentucky we went to every week, it was basically an old barn. There were the same 20 people there every time, they all looked the same, they all had maybe three teeth each and they all had the same name. Finally, one night I walked in and saw all the inbreds and thought to myself, "What am I doing with my life?" - Daniel Puder Puder is a bitch. Why? because he didn't want to spend three years of his life bouncing around WWE's development program knowing good, and well that he would never be called up because of backstage politics? The guy decided that he didn't want to waste his life wrestling in the indies, when he could be working on his MMA career. How does that make him a bitch? He wanted to be in tough enough. If you want to be in tough enough the only thing on your mind should be making it big. No matter what, if you were serious about wanting to become a pro-wrestler, you would start just like everyone else. Working in the indys and training camps. No matter how long it takes, you have to be devoted. Even Miz didn't like the guy. In Smackdown magazine (not WWE, Smackdown) he said that Puder never seemed devoted. He said that Puder seemed lazy and just wanted it for the recognition and the money. Even though I'm not a Miz fan, Miz deserved to win.

I side with Angle. Trying to legit hurt someone in pro-wrestling is a dick move. Angle, from a couple of sources, legit cracked one of the contestant's ribs before he got to Puder. Even though a lot of people think Kurt's full of crap, Kurt said he did not want to hurt any of these guys. He could of easy taken Puder down and thumped him onto his head and possibly broken Puder's neck.

I just don't like what he said. I've been to a lot of OVW shows, and I've never been to one with 20 inbred rednecks with no teeth. If he didn't like it at OVW, that's fine, but what he said wasn't necessary.

He could of easy taken Puder down and thumped him onto his head and possibly broken Puder's neck. No, no he couldn't. At no time in their short encounter was Angle in any position to drop Puder on his head. Puder got the better of Angle plain, and simple. Was Angle really as hurt as he said he was? Maybe, would Angle win if they fought again under MMA rules? With time to train maybe. Did Angle get owned that night against a guy that he took too lightly? Absolutely. Both men can say whatever they want, but I've seen the tape, and I know what happened. What happened was the WWF put on a shoot fight, and as usual they had no clue what to do when things didn't go their way. Heck even the refs were clueless. What they should have done was break them up and bring them back to the center of the ring after they got tied up in the corner. It was a sloppy mess all the way around, and most people had no idea what was going on. Fact of the matter is Kurt and the WWF got lucky if Puder was really out for himself he could have kept the hold on till Kurt tapped, or he could have just broken Kurt's arm for the hell of it. I honestly thought he showed a lot of class by excepting the count, and letting go. Then he got up and tried to show sportsmanship by shaking Kurt's hand. Kurt got owned on national TV and he knew it, that is why he threw a hissy fit after the match.

you know i love when people act like Angle was making excuses about losing the power in his arms as if its an excuse..wer e you there..in angles body? you know what was happening..no
as for the incident..all i can say is regardless of "oh submissions count too" thing why did Puder even go on his back like that for it? its like Undertakers move (another MMA thing) it just looks daft..i mean did Puder ever watch ANY wrestling? lots of wrestlers have countered crap like that with pins (well i only everremember Bret Hart doingso though )

To answer your other question Puder went for the Key lock because it was there. In a real fight you take what you can get Puder knew there was no way he was going to out wrestle Angle so he went for the submission simple as that. If he had gotten a hold of Angles leg you might have seen a knee bar or ankle lock.

He seemed like he was trying to make Kurt look bad more than to make him look good. Puder seemed to have been dying to get into the ring with Kurt. Look at the footage. Kurt asks the guys and the entire time Puder's waving his hand in the air with that stupid grin on his face. I can understand that submissions are allowed, but I believe Puder should of just had it locked in and maybe Kurt would of realized he was beaten. If it's locked it, it's locked in. Bam! End of match, hand shake, blah blah blah, let's have some drinks and find some hookers .

its a simple clash of styles. angle is a trained wrestler, so is trained on how to protect his opponents. puder is a MMA fighter and is trained to hurt his opponents.

Angle pretty much buries him in his shoot interview. And every other wrestler not named "Kurt Angle".

It was a shoot, the whole point of the match is to beat the other guy in the ring with you, not to make him look good. As for Puder wanting to get in the ring with Kurt, that is what good competitors do. Its not every day that you get the chance to test yourself against a former olympic champion on national TV, and Puder felt he had what it took to give a good showing. I don't get the third part of your statement. Puder did have the hold locked in and he had it locked in deep. Angle did a good job of not showing it, but he was in serious pain when they were making that three count, and most likely woke up the next morning barley able to move his arm. Like I said people don't realize that Angle was literally seconds away from having his arm snapped.

Well you put up a good argument, but nonetheless I find it pretty low that Puder had to increase his ego by wearing those foolish t-shirts around, trying to embarrass the guy.

Yeah I'll agree the shirts were rather lame. I think he made them to take shot at the WWF more then anything else. I also think he might have been trying to get Kurt to take him on in a real MMA match.

Well you put up a good argument, but nonetheless I find it pretty low that Puder had to increase his ego by wearing those foolish t-shirts around, trying to embarrass the guy. Kurt saying Puder was a phony and he woud beat him and have Karen urinate on him was just as bad, if not worse. Puder isn't really a speck on the map compared to Ange, but in this one time shoot environment he got the better of him, let him have that. I had a copy of Powerslam a couple of years ago where Puder was interviewed, and he didn't have any of his normal arrogance. As he told it, Angle challenging them wasn't expected, a few other guys might have liked to step up, but they were checking on the injured member. Puder stepped into the ring thinking it was a chance to make a huge name for himself, he was told the only rule was no strikes, so they tied up and he felt stronger than Angle in the position, and that the keylock was available so he grabbed it. He was amazed Kurt didn't give up, but when the pin count was made, he assumed he had actually been pinned, and it wasn't until later that he was told Gerry Brisco had seen what was happening and made the shout for the quick count. Anyhow, he got up to shake Kurt's hand in the belief he had been beaten and Kurt got in his face shouting that he had cheated etc, when no such thing had happened. Puder also said in this interview in OVW that Cornette wasn't big on him but Heyman liked what he saw and wanted to do something with him. He knows he wasn't the best worker, but said Angle could have carried him to a good match and that WWE missed out on money by burying the incident. He liked Holly who helped him a lot backstage in WWE, and was happy to do the spot in the Rumble match. The 1 million dollar thing was bull apparently. It was 250,000 for a year, with WWE having the option on whether to keep him on for another 3. They offered him the extension, but on money much lower than he could earn on the MMA circuit, so he left, and is just building his MMA stock, knowing Dana White has left an offer on the table for him. Puder may have now milked it a bit beyond, but Angle's bizarre and frankly disgusting statements at times make him if anything look worse for not being able to let the events go.

I'd just like to say that having attended the "venue" he is talking about several times (It's in Louisville on 7th street), that what he is saying about the fans is completely accurate. =P Maybe not every person in the building, but a good 80% of them.

I think kurt was thinking Amateur Wrestling and Puder was thinking Shoot. big lack of communication. as far as his career goes, i just think he didn't get pro wrestling as a whole. I don't think Vince appreciates a nobody coming in and legitimately trying to make one of his top stars at the time look bad on national television, when we all know the point of the segment was to make kurt look good. we all know vince is all about what's good for business, and what puder tried to do to a top star could have been bad for business. I heard kurt hurt one of them during the skit, but i'm sure it wasn't on purpose.

Exactly, I really doubt Kurt thought there would be chokes, armbars, etc. I'd say there was a lack of communication on what the "match" would entail. I know I wasn't very impressed with Puder's boxing-match against Miz. He should've been able to own an untrained guy. But I hope MMA is working out for him.

I agree thats Angle was thinking a shoot fight as in proper amateur wrestling but Puder thought it was MMA style but a few facts
Angle was right that it was stupid of Puder to go on his back, i mean remember that the reason we hate Undertakers move cos it pretty much pins himself
Why couldn't Angle..once he relised Puder was going MMaon him say itsamatuer wrestling not a shoot fight? i bet Puder might have at leasteased the pressure a lil to avoid injury
But ifPuder went in there with the intent of actua causing an injury to Kurt.. that is wrong, if all he wanted was to get Kurt to tap, fair enough, but if he had the intenton actually injuring, then i have no respect for him, its not an octogon its a wrestling ring, redardless of it being a shoot, its a wrestling shoot
As for Kurts reaction..how'd you feel if someone tried to break youre arm like that? though Puders attitude since then, i bet if he had talked to Angle civily and explained he didn't mean o etc..

Yeah, just to reiterate, it really sounds like a misunderstanding to me. That's why I don't side with anyone or even see the point in taking someone's side, because I don't believe either man did wrong.
