Just saw it.
Good shit. Really flowed. First time I checked the time was two hours in. Reminded me of Dark Knight for how it flowed. It's 2 hrs 43 min for those interested.
Book fans will not be disappointed. 90% of what's in the book is in the movie. A couple of the smaller non-important storylines are cut, but that's understandable. The score was......interesting and I'll leave it at that.
For people who haven't read the book, it might be a bit harder to follow along, but it does the book justice.

Just saw it.
Visually stunning, very true to the source material. But it was...long. Maybe it was just because I was at the midnight showing and was running on not much sleep anyway, but it felt long to me. And the ending still felt a little anti-climatic to me anyway.

Just saw it. I LOVED it. I'm sorry, but for once, I have to tell the Spill Crew to go f*** themselves.
They clearly were all going in with the mind set that it would suck.
I went in with the mind set that it won't be AS good as the book, but would be awesome in its own right. I was right.
It kicked ASS.
Also, the ending in the movie is WAY more logical than in the book.

Just got back too. I just read the book last week, and I would have loved to see the original ending, but this was ok. I did enjoy how a lot of the book was in the movie, and I liked the soundtrack. I didn't check the time, because I knew it was going to be a long one. I just wonder, how in the hell could they do another one? Some of the actors said they are contractually obligated to do it if they decide to do another, but even Zack Snyder said he wouldn't do it. So...there's that question. Oh, and I thought all of the actors did an amazing job. One complaint...I think the Dr. Manhatten flashback took too long. But that's little. SPOILER ALERT Me and my buddy laughed like hell when Mickey from Seinfeld showed up.

Well remember, Manhattan's flashback sequence is one whole chapter of the book itself.....and a lot of the other chapters were made up of fluff that got cut out.

I loved it. The opening was my favorite part.

I disliked it greatly. Maybe a 5 of 10, it'd be way lower if not for the the part of the movie from Dr.Man's origin, until just after the jailbreak.
About 45 minutes in I went to the bathroom, I seriously just didn't want to go back.
I thought the casting was great, script was fine, but the direction was utterly terrible. I also hated the art direction, take one of the least comic booky comic books, and make it look like batman and Robin without the neon. They even managed to make Rorschach some how look overly comic book-like. How the f***? Seriously, how do you make a white mask and over coat look that cartoonish.
The absolute best part of the movie was anything we saw Rorschach without the mask. That shit gets props, and saved the movie for me.

I can take a lot of stuff, I can even be one sick son of a mother, but...those two scenes with The Comedian made me wince a few times. You guys know the ones.
And yeah, I know the Manhatten flashback is big, but I didn't think they would go so long with it.
And yeah, the opening is wild, great way to kick it off, even though...that is how it gets kicked off.

To be honest, I think the art direction was perfect. The art direction of the book would look amazingly silly on screen. Also, what the hell are you talking about? Rorschach didn't look "overly comic book-like." But whatever. There will be those that will nitpick the movie to death, but the fact still remains, Snyder did what as called impossible. He adapted the one book said to be unadaptable into a movie. And that movie was nearly 100% exactly like the book.

From the rape scene, to the opening, to his involvement in Vietnam, to the Kennedy Assassination. So many.

I am not much of a nit picker. THe fact is, I just did not have fun watching this movie. I was bored, so very bored. And Yes Rorschach's costume looked cartoony. Not as much as Night Owl and Ozzy, who looked like Joel Schumacher rejects, but it still looked funky and off.

Your complaining about a movie being too cartoony that is based on a book that is basically a 12-chapter comic series made by DC Comics?

I've seen the actual JFK thing, so that wasn't as bad, that was more like a Holy S**t! moment. I'm talking about the rape and the bar in Vietnam.

A book that had Richard Nixon lasting many more terms than he did in real life, a giant mutant squid, brains of psychics that actually truly read minds, a normal human who could stop bullets, and a man given God powers after a scientific accident.... Ground in reality? Not really. Truth is, the movie looked more reality based than the book. It didn't help that the book's art takes it completely out of reality.

I just had to add this, and I even thought about making a separate thread for it, but... Does anybody else enjoy fight scenes set to beautiful music? The gunfight in Face/Off The apartment fight in The Punisher 2004 The Comedian's death to Nat King Cole etc. Just something about them makes me smile. Like, how can something so brutal happen when such pretty music is on?

What was the song for the Owl/Silk love scene? That was one of the oddest music choices I've ever seen for a serious love scene.
