-Two Rorshacs -Hobo Kovacs with "End is Nigh" sign -Dude from the black freighter story.
Trailers: -Observe and Report (looks AWESOME) -Public Enemies (again, AWESOME) -Angels and Demons (meh. looks interesting.) -Up (AWESOME).
Oh, and I thought the opening credits went on for WAY too long.

So,how long do movie theater hold on to a certain movie anyway now a days? I want to see Watchmen but i'm broke for the month. Depends on how successful the movie is, and how many screens the theater has. For example, the place I always go to has 24 screens, so movies last quite a while here. However, if a movie is making a lot of money, it will stay for a longer time. For example, Iron Man and The Dark Knight stayed for way over a month because of the money they brought in.

As for the trailers I got: - Star Trek - Terminator: Salvation - Public Enemies - Angels & Demons - Some Seth Rogen film(he's a mall security cop, forgot the name of it) - The Haunting in Connecticut( ) I wanted the trailer of Wolverine........ Switch Wolverine with Public Enemies and that's what they showed at my theater.

Seen the midnight preview last night, and I thought it was pretty good. As expected, I loved every single minute Rorschach was on screen.

Gonna see it tonight.
The Wrestler finally came to Pullman, too, but I'm not sure if there are any weekend showings of it, and I fear that it won't be around for too long.
Well, if Amazon is to be believed, the DVD is coming out pretty soon I believe, and now a days, a DVD isn't much more expensive than going to a movie.

April 21st is when Amazon says the wrestler comes out on DVD/Blu Ray.
And sorry for hijacking this thread with talks of the wrestler.
So yeah, my TA for Film History saw the movie last night. He's a huge comic nerd, and said if you look at more as an adaptation rather than a direct translation, then yeah, this movie rocks.
My only thing is, the group I'm seeing it with will be a bunch of people who haven't read it. So far, there are at least 3 other folks in my party, none of whom have read it. One other friend might go, and he's either reading it/has read it(I lent him my copy about 2 weeks ago, and I still don't have it back, but I haven't seen him in about a week). I have a feeling that they're going to go into it expecting an X-men style movie, and be severely disseminated, while I'm going to have to try and explain the plot to them on the ride home.

I honestly doubt that'll work. I have a feeling they'll be expecting a more Hulk or Iron Man style movie. Not that those movies are bad(I liked them both a lot), but Watchmen just really isn't along those same lines. It doesn't help that a lot of the ads for it made no effort to try and make the general movie-going audience think otherwise.

Just got back from seeing it. As someone who considers himself a huge follower of the book, I was more than satisfied. I knew going in that even the most faithful adaption could probably not hold a candle to the layers the book has, but I was surprised at how much they kept. There were a number of times when I got goosebumps just from seeing how well executed scenes were as I had envisioned them in my head.
The weak point of the movie for me was Silk Spectre II. Not that the actress playing her did a BAD job, but she was heavily overshadowed by those who played. Laurie is a fiery, emotional woman, and we didn't really see that in the movie. There's a few other things that bugged me, but they mainly had to do with omissions from the book (The psychologist storyline, Hollis Mason not being murdered, changes in certain scenes etc.) that, while noticeable to those who have read it, do not take away from the film.
The acting in general was superb. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was PERFECT as The Comedian, and Jackie Earl Haley was Rorschach. One of the few things that I thought would be a tad awkward would be when Rorschach would have to speak unmasked with the gritty voice, but it came off excellent. Haley nailed it. For a character that didn't entice me so much in the comic, Patrick Wilson was a great Nite Owl, and delivered all his little quirks. As for mine (and Slim's) favorite character, Matthew Goode did a hell for a job as Ozymandias. For being the one who looks the least like his comic counterpart, I think he delivered a great performance. He captured Veidt's intelligence, suaveness, eloquence, as well as the small hint of arrogance. The only thing I didn't like was the way his confrontation with Dreidberg at the end went, but I'm sure it'll grow and it did make sense.
Far as the ending goes, and for the record the book's ending is one of my favorite endings in any medium, I think the scenario they used with Manhattan not only worked, but probably made more logical sense than the one Veidt used in the comic. I'll discuss it more later.
Overall, a great movie. Especially when taken into account that it was made with the attention of pleasing both the casual moviegoer and those who revere the book. For a flick that's slightly shy of 3 hours, it flew by.

so, should we put a spoiler tag in the topic heading now, since I know a lot of people will want to discuss this in detail without pussyfooting around?

The thing that annoyed me the most that there was bunch of teenagers in the session I went too. So I could hear childish giggles whenever Dr Manhattan's penis was on screen. Why weren't they in school.
Trailers: Knowing (Looks pretty bad)
The Uninvited (PASS!)
Some Australian movie I have already forgotten the title too.
Star Trek (I'm no Trekkie.... In fact I have never seen a episode of Star Trek or any of the movies (Closest I have seen is Galaxy Quest). But this film looks awesome and I want to see it now)

I'd say so, it's the trend with every film once it hits theatres. Also, I concur with most everyone else about the intro. It was just mesmerizing, and the fight scene with The Comedian was just done perfectly. Anyone else love the "First We Take Manhattan" song usage at the end credits? (if you stayed for them anyway) ;D

No one else had a trailer for "Inglorious Basterds"? That looks like it could be awesome or terrible, no in-between.

The movie is a fairly strong C+ effort, I found. Review potentially forthcoming.

Ok, its been 12 hours since I saw it, time for second impressions.
Rorshach was the best part of this movie. Music was still awesome.
Ozy bugged me a little, he at least did something other than monotone in the comics.
Also, the ending was still a bit bitter to me. To tell the truth I would have preferred the genetically engineered monster female anatomy. But was kinda plausible. Meanwhile the final fight with Ozy no selling Owl's punches felt uneccessary.
Still overall:incredible!
