I'm totally seeing this flick a second time. My favorite character in the book was Nite Owl II and he absolutely ruled in the movie too, so that made me very happy. The ending didn't bother me at all, when I heard that it was going to be different than the one in the novel, I was real skeptical but the writers really did a good job of coming up with an ending that didn't kill the original "heart" of the book. Kudos.
Seeing that it was so faithful to the source material, I wonder if Alan Moore actually sees it, if he'll like it. Except for a few little things it was a straight literal interpretation of the book, and was well made...if I was him I'd want my name attached to it.

snorking lame friends.
So, I organize the time we're all going to go. They're all like "Awesome, yeah, sounds great". Now, they all decide to go tomorrow. So, I canceled all my plans that I had tonight for the movie. Tomorrow is already going to be a snorking busy and possibly stressful day(apartment hunting for next school year), hence why I wanted to go tonight.
Didn't even tell me why either. Just said "hey, we're not going until tomorrow". And the only reason I even found out was because I told them that I got another person on board to come along with us. If I hadn't, I might have gotten all the way down to the theater before they even bothered to tell me.
Odds are, they'll skip out on going tomorrow, too, or they won't invite me or some jazz. If its the first, then I'll go by myself, as lame as that sounds. If its the second, well, I'll get a better understanding of how close we are(this isn't the first time they've done stuff like this, and yet one of them has the gall to call me an asshole for not inviting him to one place).

Saw it, I absolutely hate the ending. The movie was fine, great up till the ending (Hate that Masons scene wasn't in it though). It DOES NOT make any sense how it would end fighting between the nations, none what so snorking ever compared to the book..

Of the group that's going to see this, I'm the only one who has read the subject material, so I will only know that they changed the ending. That being said, I'm still pumped to see this movie, even if there is a lot of blue penis onscreen.

On board with the trailers, here were the ones at my screening:
-X-Men Origins: Wolverine (looks good, but I'm still skeptical) -Star Trek (I'm not a trekkie, but I think this looks awesome) -Pandorum (trailer didn't reveal much, and what it shown didn't look good) -Terminator: Salvation (Meh. Looks okay, but I'm not that excited to see it) -Observe and Report (Trailer was kind of funny, but I have a feeling the movie will suck)

I agree, I have NO idea how that would have the same affect as the original staged alien invasion. If anything, it would HURT the chances of world peace, seeing as how it amounted to America's nuclear deterrent effectively devestating the world. They should NOT have changed it from the original ending. Aside from that, it was an okay movie; I'd give it 3 and a half stars out of five. But seriously, that ending change was totally unnecesary.

Tyler Bates ripped off Christopher Young's theme for the Cenobites from Hellraiser for the scene with Rorschach and the little girl. I'm pretty sure on that, anyway.

I didn't see many of the previews at my theater because I came in right near the beginning of the movie itself; I was too busy at the arcade, playing Time Crisis 3. I remember two of them were Knowing and that one upcoming comedy about the mall security guard (the OTHER one).
EDIT: Oh, yeah, Terminator was also previewed. And Observe and Report was the mall cop one.

Saw a 4 o'clock showing of it today.
Other than a man and his child, I was the only other person in the theater. It was a good movie, not great by any means, but good none the less. I didn't care for the ending, but I understand them going that route. Nite Owl II is my favorite character from the graphic novel, so I was relieved to see him represented well on the big screen.
For a movie that clocked over two and half hours it seemed to fly by and although I'll probably go see it again. I wasn't floored by it.

I just got back from seeing "Watchmen" in theaters!!!! I thought it was very good. It was visually stunning, and it was very close to a literal adaptataion. It was very graphic. Lots of violence, and the sex scene between Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre is pretty much porn. The casting was good, especially the Comedian. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was amazing as The Comedian. The only weak link was the actress who played Silk Spectre. She suffered what I call Katie Holms Syndrome: she was good but was surrounded by better actors and got bogged down. Though she did have good chemistry with the actor who played Nite Owl II. I hated the slow motion. I didn't mind when Zach Snyder did it in "300" because it was based on a short work. But here, it was overkill. Make up was crap. The guy playing Nixon would have looked more like Nixon if he had worn a Nixon mask. The opening credits were awesome. That was the best part of the film. Though the movie was good, the graphic novel is better. I mean, you can just really get lost in the graphic novel, a lot moreso than a movie. As for the ending, first things first: I was torn. On the one hand, I thought the giant squid looked stupid. On the other hand, it didn't really makes sense to me that Ozymandias frams Dr. Manhattan for the attack. I mean, he is suppose to be indestructible. So, how in the hell are all the governments in the world suppose to stop him? Hell, Ozymandias, the Smartest Man In The World, thought he could stop Manhattan; and he was wrong. It did stay true to the idea of making the world unite under the threat of a common enemy, but I felt they could have kept the aliens, just done it in a different way than the book. Also, I thought that seeing all those dead bodies lying around in New York would have been a powerful visual on the big screen.

No one else had a trailer for "Inglorious Basterds"? That looks like it could be awesome or terrible, no in-between. I had it, and i had Pixar's UP, which looks freaking awesome. The ending blew it, you think "it seems more logical" but I do not see Ozzy setting up Dr. Man like that. Plus Every nation would hate us as he was our weapon. SO instead the USA gets destroyed. Plus they all know Doc's power, everyone would realize it is pointless to resist, if Dr. Man can just randomly decide to destroy everything, nothing can be done. really this would lead to looting and murder and riots. When you analyze it, the ending is really dumb as hell.

Just got back from it.
I thought it was f***ing AMAZING.
I seriously can't think of any ways that it could've been more faithful, personally. And I can understand why the stuff that was cut was cut. And it'll all be back eventually in the DVD anyway, so I'm not too miffed.
Seriously though, I thought it was a 100% brilliant adaptation, and I thought the new ending made perfect sense, if you ask me. I know not everyone agrees with me...but I really don't care. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine.
Seriously though, absolutely brilliant in every single way I can think of.
Oh, and the trailers I got were:
Wolverine Star Trek Terminator Public Enemies Observe and Report
