My first post on a wrestling site will be about watchmen....all right. I went at midnight and went as dr. Manhatten. I used blue magic marker.........BAD IDEA. I can't get it off. Loved the opening title scene, loved the use of music (best use of licenced music since forest gump in my opinion) and loved the little details. Hated the actor who played Ozzy (too bland), Laurie (not enough emotion. Peter Travers thought she was trying to act like Camron Diaz from Chalies angles but failed) and the ending made less sense to me then the book. It would have made more sense if Ozzy had asked Jon to appear one last time in front of the world and told everyone to play nice or else. But, I will see it again. And I got Wolverine and star trek

I got Fast and Furious or as My Sister and I call it 4 Fast 4 Furious. I think "The Fast and the 4-ious" sounds a little better. I won't be seeing Watchmen until Sunday.

OK, so I saw it Friday afternoon. I've heard of the Watchmen, but never read the graphic novel or anything, I was just seeing it because it looked like a good movie (all my friends are Watchmen fans so they were able to answer any questions I had).
I loved this movie. Good mix of action and drama and humor. Made me want to read the book.
As for previews since everyone is naming them off, I got Terminator, Wolverine, some movie I can't remember, and The Hangover, which looked funny, especially the Mike Tyson cameo.

I loved the Graphic Novel. I liked the movie. I would give it a 75 out of 100. If you want to find out why. Reply back to this comment and I'll tell you tomorrow night in a spoilers review.

Me and my friends went out to go see this. Excellent movie in my opinion. I am still reading the graphic novel and thought they did a great job adapting most of the comic into the film.
The theater I went to however had a lot of children. Maybe parents should learn that films with R ratings are things children should not be going to.
Line of the night came from one of the kids in the audience during the sex scene...
"Mommy, why is he laying on her?"

So is Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter and Under the Hood any good? It's not in the film. It's separate/Directors Cut. Under the Hood is mentioned though.

-Movie was overall really great. However, praise is never as much fun as criticism, so...
-Bizarre change: Rorschach doesn't light the child murderer on fire. Instead, he axes him in the brain. Why? Idiotic trade. -Way too many slow motion effects. Come on, let the work breathe a little bit. -Way too much stupid fighting. Are we to believe that everyone in the film fights in the same kung fu kinda style (including Rorschach)? Why is it that when anyone is hit they leap 20 feet backwards and land in giant heaps. Those fights were f***ing awful.

I thought it was a great movie, but a lot was lost in the translation from graphic novel to film. Definitely a lot of things you would "read over" in the novel to "get it", that you can't do in the movie while it's playing.
However, the opening credits maybe the best opening to a movie I've ever seen. It was simply amazing.

Those fights were snorking awful. Maybe they thought there was enough fire used in the movie? Rorschach used fire against the cops and there is also Archie's flamethrower. The only thing that I'd change about the movie is Ozymandias' costume.... It really should have had more color.

***spoilers*** I did not like it. Rorschach came off as the definate righteous hero by the end. In the book he was psychoticly single minded in his quest for how he deems justice to be, which is why he has to die. Rorschach would doom the world to be right. On the otherhand Ozy has become some generic mad-scientist villain. While his actions were appalling at first everyone except Rorschach came to accept them as neccesary. Plus Manhattan as a patsy just isn't quite as impressive to me as the genetically engineered psionic extradimensional raiders.
I keep seeing people say it was a faithfull adaptation of the book. Sure some scenes he used the comic panels as storyboards, but he completely changed the stories climax. It would be like tracing over the Mona Lisa then "finishing" the body by drawing her full figure and nude. The face looks the same but it sure wouldn't feel the same.

I saw it last night and enjoyed it. But keep in mind that I never followed the novels so my opinions wasn't swayed.
And was it just me or did Dan look like a younger version of Chevy Chase?

First off I want to say that I'm a Watchmen book fan, but not a fanboy. Fanboys are clingy, complaining dipshits who will never, ever be grateful for any concession you make. So I understand that they have to trim certain things to fit the story in.
The opening credits were awesome. That was the best part of the film. Perfect song too. I'm so glad they included the "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me" Rorshcach prison scene. Such a badass. He was fleshed out perfectly I think. Same with Dr Manhattan. Both of them were done so well. I also think that Ozymandias was great. You actually understood his point and message by the end of it, and Rorchcach's too. So I'm glad they got both points and split your opinion on the issue.
So even while they couldn't get all the morals, I think the film reflected the comic with the cinematography. Holy shit was it beautiful to look at (insert Dr Manhattan penis joke). And I thought the ending change worked very well. Sure they could have had the blood and guts and destruction, but I think the ending worked and that's what matters.
It was a faithful adaptation. It got all the characters and plot points needed to get a Watchmen movie under two and a half hours. But one thing that got to me was that the graphic novel is very morally complex, and this movie just didn't feel like it had that.
I'm rambling. I loved it and thought it was awesome. They did the best they could and it worked. Can't wait for the DVDs.

I liked it a lot. Some of the music choices seemed way out of place to me at least.
But overall, that was about as good a job as you could do with such dense material.
But I admit, the line (paraphrasing) 'Jon, I thought you went to Mars' taken out of context is hilarious to me.
It's right up there with 'but here comes Robocop!' for something to yell out randomly in a crowd.
BTW, if slow-motion could somehow take human form, how many nanoseconds would it take for Zack Snyder to propose marriage to it?

Does anyone know what scenes were filmed but not included in the theatrical release...maybe stuff that will be included on the dvd...I'm hoping that maybe we'll eventually get some scenes with the newsvendor and the kid reading "Black Freighter" and a scene with the death of the original Nite Owl.
