What about travelling, that's something I've always wondered about. Does the WWE pay for it or does the wrestler, same with lodging and meals...... For tax reasons, WWE wrestlers are independent contractors, not employees. Airfare, accomodations and food are all left up to each individual wrestler to cover. Foley and Owen were notorious for sharing rooms and saving all they could on the road.

jobbers get paid $500 per show. Damn, I'll get destroyed a couple times a week to pay my mortgage.

This is the thing that people don't remember. You do the WWE developmental for a couple of years for $25,000 per year. You go into the lowcard for $75,000-$100,000 a year for 3 years. You have crappy bookers and writers doing your material so you never catch on and finally you are released. Lets be fair and say bottom feeders make $450,000 after 5 years in the company. Not bad...well take out travel expenses, insurance, taxes and you are really looking at about $200,000. Still not bad you say? Well those 5 years could have been spent trying to work your way up a corporate ladder for another company. Now you have a decision to make. Indies or a new career? You have to start over and you can probably forget about your new company paying for health insurance because your premiums will probably be high forever due to the negative stigma of wrestling. God forbid you get into some sort of work accident because the injury will be blamed on your past with wrestling. So it might be fun while it lasts, but if you don't make it out of the lowcard, your future out of the business could suck.

I don't know. I heard a while back that major league baseball players get like $48 bucks per day on the road for meal money. That's nuts. Where are these guys eating? I could eat TWICE at my favorite restaurant (Texas Roadhouse) and still have money left over, just on 1 day's allowance! I could make 48 bucks stretch an entire week. In fact, I have done it. Unemployment is the greatest excersise for survival instincts.
