Let's appreciate The Giant's run in WCW.
I just got done watching the episodes of Nitro from September 1995, which is right in the thick of the Hogan/Dungeon feud, and the Giant is fresh off debuting.
He really is an amazing wrestler back then. If you've never seen his early WCW work, do yourself a favor and find some of it. He was really a great big man. Athletic, and a great monster at the same time.
There is a spot on an episode of Nitro where the Dungeon is doing a post-match beatdown on Randy Savage, and some mid-carders come to make the save. Alex Wright is one of them, and he comes off the top rope with an Ax Handle, but The Giant catches him with one hand in mid-air and chokeslames him all in one fluid motion.
WWE really needs to release a Giant/Big Show DVD with a lot of his WCW work on it.

I really don't think there's ever been a better big man, than the Big Show.
He is Hall of Fame bound.

Watch early videos of Andre too... he used to fly around the ring. They just don't last long, obviously at their size... they become large immobile shells of themselves.
The Big Show still can do some great things though. I just wish he was pushed as a giant monster instead of a comedic type.

If he weren't, he'd probably always get serious monster pushes. But the guy's personality is just oo likable.

seriously though, back during his prime during 95 and 96, he was a better athlete than men a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter than him. seeing a man that size doing the things he did was downright amazing. I mean, he was/is still downight awesome in McMahonland, but for someone who never watched his WCW work, like me, its amazing.

Paul Wight has always been the man in my book. He is too likable though to be a heel, especially after that appearance on Conan with Tom Selleck and the old lady from that sex show on Oxygen.

His main problem is that neither WWF/E or WCW has booked him correctly he should be booked as a monster. HJe was great back in 95,96 when he was booked as such. It is just another run which was cut short by the NWO and Hogan

It is just another run which was cut short by the NWO and Hogan This. WCW had the right idea at first, but then he fell into the nWo clusterf***. Then they turned him face/heel a few times and that was that. WWF/E really f***ed up at first with him, then would on occasion start to book him right.....before screwing it up shortly thereafter. They last time I really feel he was used right was his ECW title run

Giant smoking cigarettes = win Who was it that made the mistake of knocking one of his cigarettes out of his mouth and just got completely wrecked? I think it might have been Kanyon.

his ECW title run was awesome. It was. That maybe one of the few things Heyman got right during his ECW run. One of my favorite memories of his time as the Giant was when he beat Ric Flair (for the title I believe) by chokeslamming him from the Figure 4.

Seriously though I wanted Big Show to come back with an extended Face run, it seems like they always want him going heel. Blah, FAce Big Show is awesome

One of my favorite memories of his time as the Giant was when he beat Ric Flair (for the title I believe) by chokeslamming him from the Figure 4. The best thing about the run was that everyone came to fight him. It made not only the show(the TV show, not the Big Show), and the title look important. That was the difference between his and Bobby Lashley's run. With the Big Show, he had a ton of big-name opponnents coming to ECW to fight for the title. For Lashley, he barely seemed to wrestle on ECW, and when he did, it was barely for the title, and it was always against guys like Test.

It was always pretty cool in WCW how, face or heel, it almost always took a small army to take down the Giant. He was just the ultimate powerhouse in that company for a long time.

I still marvel that, at one point, he could do a moonsaut.
