I was thinking about Goldberg's streak and some people thought the way it ended was lame and some people that the wrong wrestler (Kevin Nash) ended it.
I really believe DDP should have been the one to end it.
Have things stay the same up until Halloween Havoc 98. But instead of Goldberg winning the title match against DDP, have DDP defeat Goldberg clean after two or three Diamond Cutters. He could have title defenses up till Starrcade on Nitro and WW3 against guys such as Bret Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow, Chris Benoit, and Lex Luger. Then by Starrcade, if ratings had gone down during his reign or his popularity began to fade, you could hype a Goldberg/DDP rematch or DDP vs. Kevin Nash at Starrcade and have Page lose. But I don't think that would have happened because Page was still very over at that time and was still marketable.
I think it would have been better than what we originally got with Nash beating Goldberg with help from a taser, then losing the belt to Hogan with a finger poke a couple of weeks later. Followed by Stalker Goldberg, Hogan vs. Flair again, and DDP accidently winning the belt at Spring Stampede. I didn't watch too much WCW in 99 but I remember the next time I tuned in, DDP had turned heel and formed a stable called The Jersey Triad and was thinking "Heh?! How did that happen??"
Do you like the idea? Do you think DDP being WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 1998 could have worked?

Intriguing, but at the time, I was hoping for Warrior/Goldberg feud, with Warrior being the man to end Goldberg's streak. But that's just me.

DDP was over, but Goldberg was on the rise and I know how people on here hate unclean finishes, but I'd say some devious tactics to bring him down was the way to go,IMO.

Nah, Goldberg's streak should have continued. Think about it; up until he faced Page, he never really had a one-on-one match last longer than 5 minutes - the match with Page went about 20. I would have liked to have seen a lot more false finishes and Goldberg actually get winded to the point he couldn't do his Jackhammer.

Actually I'm sure his matches with Saturn were longer than 5 minutes.
Also his streak had to end sometime and I thought it was the best way that way he'd have a reason to get revenge on Hall after getting screwed out of the title.

vs Hogan went 8. The Saturn matches went 7-8. Hell Jerry Flynn went 6 minutes. And the match vs DDP went 10, by the way.
I knew the result, but I still marked like hell the next night when watching Page hit the Diamond Cutter.

I'm with Bobby Heenan on the Goldberg issue. He was over enough that he should have kept winning and kept winning until the right person cropped up. That person was not around in 1998.

Who do you think it would have been? WCW only made two new stars during their golden age: Goldberg and DDP. And I think that's was one of the huge flaws that lead to their downfall. (Though, there were several.) I like Heenan's idea too. Have Goldberg keep winning until they find a hot prospect to beat him, then that person can have the streak. But I honestly can't think of anyone who came along after 98 who could have been the one. I guess, had WCW used them correctly, Benoit or Jericho would have been good choices in '99. They probably would have been established by the end of the year. Maybe Sting if they had they kept pushing him. Or perhaps "The Millenium Man" Sid Vicious?

WCW had a loaded roster with the likes of Hogan, Hall, Nash, Hennig, DDP, Sting, Bret, Giant and others. There wasn't anyone else that could come along and be a threat to the guy personally. The guy was there.

Accidentally? Explain. I marked out like crazy when DDP won the strap for the 1st time. Oh, I was glad for him winning it too, don't get me wrong. But I remember reading somewhere that Hogan getting injured in the four-way was legit and he was actually supposed to win the match instead of DDP. Whether that was true or not, I'm not sure. I never found out.
