I was just wondering what it was about this character that got RD to induct it?

The same as why he won't induct WM 13 OR 11 but inducted 9. Who knows it's his website and only one mans opinion.

macho mans real life brother. never really wrestled but played a mangerial role. wore graduation, complete with cap, gown, and tassle. read poes before matches that talked trash about the opponents. peoms were on 'scrolls', which he used as weapons once and a while.
he was useless.

ACTUALLY he did wrestle as "Leaping" Lanny Poffo in his WWF/WWE days. He used to recite poems on frisbees and toss them to the fans. Poffo had an injury and he became "The Genius".

Lanny wrestled as The Genius as well. He even has a win over Hulk Hogan. That match is famous for Genius's mathematical equation that equalled "Hulk Down". Apparently it worked, as he walked out with a count out victory.
He also tagged with Mr. Perfect alot.

He was inducted I believe. But I could be wrong.
And BTW, he also did a fun frisbee thing for a while. He would write poems on frisbee's and toss them to the audience. Did not last long, but still a unique gimmick if ever there was one.

I liked The Genius. He was pretty nimble in the ring too.

First guy in the WWF\E that I ever saw hit a moonsault. Great Muta would be the first one I saw ever (NWA 1989).

I thought his personality was great. The concept was kind of over the top,but it worked well with the character. He was this slightly effeminate guy who used 20 dollar words left and right. I especially loved his segments with the 2nd set of Mr. Perfect vignettes. My favorite was the diving board segment. He starts out with this over-elaborate introduction to Hennig and turns around to look up at Hennig in his speedos batting his eyes like a pre-teen girl at a Jonas Brothers concert. It was hillarious.

In his shoot he talks about how Vince and co. approached hm to become a heel. Lanny in his infinite wisdom decided to wear the graduation gowns and moratr boards, which Vince loved. And told Lanny to have a different coloured outfit everytime.
It should be noted that Lanny is also a succesful author, with 2 books. "Wrestling with Rhyme" a book of poems about wrestlers. "Limericks from the Lungs (and Heart)", a childrens book about anti-smoking.

When Poffo did the heel turn it was awesome, reading poems about how the fans treated him

Lanny got his idea to call himself The Genius from his father's gimmick, which was called The Professor.

As a kid I only watched him as the Genius, and he annoyed me to no end. Later in life, after watching 24/7 house shows from the 80's Lanny was usually the opening match. As a worker the guy is very underrated. His moves were way ahead of their time. The Frisbee thing was cheesy, but unique. As a man, he's an odd character. I thought I heard somewhere (possibly from Lanny himself) that he always wrote a new poem for every event.

Apparently he can remember every poem he wrote on the fly. Which truly does make him The Genius.

I also saw him at a house show and sooooooooo wanted one of those frisbees. Same house show had Steve lombardi get wicked heckled in his sparkly purple jacket.
