almost worth it for the wristbands [/sarcasm off] As if the thought of a DVD dedicated to the sole burial of the ultimate whack job, and some matches for nostalgia wasn't enough. I'm willing to bet there'll be a long ass Warrior rant telling us not to buy this dvd that morning.

I feel sorry for Warrior he didn't deserve THIS much of a burial if any. I want to watch the DVD though.

Although a part of me does want to see this DVD, another part of me really questions if this DVD is really necessary. Sure we "smart fans" all know what kind of person Warrior is, and how crazy he can be at times. His "queering" speech was considered quite offensive by many. But there are a lot of casual fans out there who have no idea what kind of person Warrior is in real life. To people like these, he was an icon of 80's wrestling... the guy who beat Honky Tonk Man in under a minute... the hyperactive guy who ran to the ring, and even pinned Hulk Hogan. For people like this, they are going to watch this DVD and be in for a huge letdown. In other words, WWE is trying to completely kill off the mysteriousness and intrigue that many casual fans have for him. And why? So Vince's ego can score another victory? I think they should just leave it alone.

I think that the project initially wasn't intended to bury the Warrior. Like all superstar DVD's WWE wanted the input of Warrior himself because it is clear that WWE wanted this DVD will be semi-(auto)biographical too instead of just a series of 'Greatest Hits'
When Warrior refused to have anything to do with the project then he himself ensured there would be no significant pro-warrior voice on the DVD.

I have to ask - do "casual fans" even know who the Ultimate Warrior is anymore? He's not on the air. No one MENTIONS him on the air. If you don't have WWE 24/7, you're not going to see any of the old stuff. The only place left to regularly see him is either in the news when he does something nutty or on his website, the Home of Something Nutty.
It shouldn't be a burial, but it will be because Vince is a vindictive fourth-grader at heart. Had they not patched up their differences, how do you think the Stone Cold DVD would have gone?
I'll be interested to see how it goes.

But how else can WWE make a Warrior DVD which is honest and detailed without making the guy looking like a total ass?
It would be ridiculous for example the "mysterious" disapearances of Warrior from WWF at various times not to be addressed and unless they're just going to scam over it - which would be completely ridiculous as his WWF run was the biggest point in Warriors career - then they MUST deal with it and seeing as there is only one side to be told because Warrior refused to work with WWE on the DVD then Warrior will get burried.
It's really nobody elses fault but himself.

They could have done it - it wouldn't have been a "complete" story, but the War-yah hackles wouldn't have been raised.
Of course, knowing him, he'd have complained endlessly no matter what. Without the portions that would tick him off, he'd probably start kvetching about them not letting him narrate or rant or whatever.
I'm not saying that it won't be an interesting watch. But it smacks of Vince being a ballbuster since he couldn't preclude Ol' Jim from using the Warrior name.

Perhaps but it would be a VERY short DVD otherwise.
With nobody of any name worth of the past 20 years (seemingly) having anything to say thats positive about the guy the only way a positive DVD could be made would be to put on it the WM6/Hogan match and then use the remaining 130minutes as a specially extended remix of the Warriors theme music.

LOL! A very good point. Maybe they can do the remix over the footage of everyone doing their Warrior impression. I wonder if they'll be including Trilpe H's "favorite" match. And for the record, I'm so watching this. I think it'll be an interesting record of what happened (which I don't remember all of), a look inside what went on back then and insight into the things we didn't know about. Plus, I have to see Batista make fun of him. I HAVE to.

When I was referring to casual fans, I meant the people who watched wrestling during the boom period of the 80's. I know a lot of people who no longer watch wrestling, but they watched it in the 80's when we were kids. People like this only remember a handful of guys. They know Hulkster, they know the Macho Man, and they all remember the Ultimate Warrior. They remember him as the crazy hero who showed an energy and hyperactivity like no one else of the era! Then when I tell them "Yeah, but have you seen him lately? Cuckoo!", people are surprised. There are quite a few people out there who have no idea how Warrior actually "lives" his character.

I wonder if they'll even touch on his post-wrestling nuttiness or if the DVD will concentrate on what was going on then.

Most fans, even the attitude hardcore have a fairly good idea of who (or what) Ultimate Warrior was.
It's like the great Hollywood stars of the past, I've never seen most of them in any movies but I could tell you who they were.
I'd like for them to explain why Warrior wore the bodysuit during his 1992 (??) run. Some say it's because he dropped off the steroids so his physique wasn't up to what it once was but my theory is that he had some kind of fetish to being covered up as at WM7 after his match with Savage he put his jacket back ON - which struck me as a little odd.

my theory is that he had some kind of fetish to being covered up as at WM7 after his match with Savage he put his jacket back ON - which struck me as a little odd. It WAS odd, wasn't it? Perhaps he was sleeping rough that night? I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't have been ANYONE who'd have had anything nice to say about the Woyargh. Surely Road Warrior Animal or another pal of UW would have had some positivity? And while it's hard to ignore the fact that Warrior vanished in 1991 AND 1992, or his Kiss-style attempts to extend his legacy, it's also hard to ignore the fact that he was extremely popular in the upper-mid-card, had an unusual character and was a lot of kids' favourite wrestler when he was around (hell, I was a total Warrior mark).

He was and this DVD should focus on some of the very positive points (lets face it 'point') of Warriors career too.

I can't see it being a TOTAL smear-job.
Will it even address his WCW days? Or are they pretty much concentrating on his WWF run. They do have access to the WCW tapes, don't they?
I was a fan back then, too. Because he was new and exciting and different from everyone else they had, which was definitely a plus. I think it would be a great look at everything that happened that we know nothing about. I mean, he was only there for how long? 18 months?

i would like to think that the E would try, i will repeattry, to show some class and make a good spin on the warrior. I mean like someone said most people that remember him are us who rag on him on the net and the people who where little warriors as a kid. If they did decide to just bury any legacy thar he had in the ring i will be greatly disappointed in them. but i still wouldny put it past them
