Loved this one, funny how the XBOX ones he played got mediocre reviews, but he still thought were awesome compared to the Ninty ones!
Almost marked out when he said DESOTROYAH!

I want that Super Nintendo fighting one that never got a western release.
If that comes out on the Virtual Console..... I'm getting a Wii.

I LOL'ed when he got pissed and started knocking down his SNES games off the wall, complete with Godzilla sounds.

Funny that the Nerd essentially admitted that not everything retro is good and/or better than the older stuff. I feel about Godzilla games the same way I feel about wrestling games: It's something that's only got good with more advanced technology.

The part where he plays the Xbox and PS2 Godzilla games were funny. His facial expressions (and also for the whole episode) were priceless.

Despite never playing any of the Godzilla games, this is probably one of the best AVGN's in a long time just for the ending of him playing the PS2 and XBox games and being blown away. The whole fighting-someone-only-to-get-pooped-on-or-poop-onto-them ending has been growing old and it's good to see something new. Plusit makes me wonder if we'll get any reviews of more recent games, though I doubt it.

Well, he did kinda review recent games in the Christmas episodes for 2007, which showed him reviewing some Wii games as an older version of himself.
But, it's unlikely, seeing as he's supposed to "take us back to the past, to play the crappy games that sucked ass."

The most recent game he gave a full review to is, I believe, Independence Day on the PSX. But he sometimes compare remakes, sequels or equivalents of older games, so some recent games do op up every now and then.

Not counting the pack-in SMB/Duck Hunt, Godzilla was the first NES game I owned and it's still the only one I have (even if I no longer have an NES)
Mothra is definitely the way to go in the monster fights - I never could beat Ghidorah with Godzilla, but he's a cakewalk with Mothra.
I still think that - while it wasn't a great game - it was okay and the monster graphics were some of the best on the NES.

I like his regular reviews a lot, but I don't mind the sketch videos on occasion, when appropriate.
I liked that, as with Board James, I feel like we got a little more insight on James from him as a kid's perspective than we often do. Makes me relate to him, since I think we all know how it feels to be underwhelmed by a game that is based on something you have a whole lot of love for. Not to mention, probably a lot of us know what it's like for a game we want to never get imported, or just get imported way after anyone cares.

People really blow the whole "AVGN = only poop jokez!!1" thing out of proportion anyway. Does he do it? Yes, but most of his videos this year have been straight up reviews. Just avoid the Odyssey review, which was probably his lowlight.
Besides, that and the swearing is what got him popular, sadly, so I can see why he sticks to that mould.

Well, I can't blame him for doing a mix of things, to give all of his fans something. Nothing NC doesn't do, or most anyone with a diverse fanbase. It's something he mostly seems to do with games that can be summed up in like 4 sentences, which a lot of bad games are like before you get redundant. I mean, how many ways can you say a game has poor controls? On the topic of AVGN, I love Kyle Justin's Double Vision cover. Does anyone know if he's done it in full anywhere?

I have a question here. He showed the 2D SNES Godzilla fighter but there was also a 2D Godzilla fighter for the Turbo Duo and I was wondering if these 2 games were very similar and if one was a sequel to the other or what. I read the Turbo Duo game was indeed released in the US and if its true then thats strange that it was and the SNES one wasnt.

Him playing the games he always wished he could have played as a kid towards the end there was priceless.
