I like him a lot, but he isn't over at all. I feel bad for him because he really tries hard to make the gimmick work, he's having good matches, but he isn't getting nearly the reaction he should be.
Love the 'Ohhhh Radio' attire though. That's a nice touch.

I think he's just such a douche that fans don't know how to react. A lot of the fans attending probably have no idea who it is since they're just going for Smackdown and may not watch ECW. The lack of reaction should not cause any concerns over his gimmick, it just needs to sink in or get pushed heavily like The Miz.

This is what frustrates me about him the most. It seemed like he was starting to get progressively stronger reactions and then it just kind of stopped. We went from Ryder v Christian to Ryder v Benjamin to Ryder v Regal v Jackson v Kozloz v Christian v Dreamer v Tatsu.

Its still pretty early in the guys career. One shouldn't expect monster reactions yet.
Morrison wasn't getting much of a reaction when his push started either.

Pssh, Zack Ryder could say "Woo woo woo" to me and I'd mark for him for twenty straight minutes.
It's a shame the man isn't as over as he seems to be here on the boards. I'm sure he'd cry tears of joy if he saw the love he's getting here.

He challenged Regal the other night so who knows? Maybe he's turning face. There could be worse things than a babyface tag team of Christian and Ryder, with Christian taking Zach under his wing to feud with Regal's stable. Put Yoshi in there with Christian and Ryder for 3 man tag matches and you're set.

Ryder needs to calm down. If he continues at this pace my head might explode from his sheer awesomeness.

I don't get all the love for his gimick. It is very very cartoonish. I think he is above avg in the ring and has charisma. However would someone put the fishnet back in his pants. Beefcake wants them back.

---
Let me tell you guys a quick story.
There once was a WWF wrestler, in the mid-90s who was in a rut. His first few months in the company were solid, if unspectacular, but the fans were indifferent.
He just needed that one hook to get himself in the minds of the fans.
When that time came, the support did not come overnight. But over the ensuing months, he developed a following, a following that would cheer the man over any other, despite the fact he was a heel.
Within 2 years, he was the most popular wrestler in the world. And it all began from one throwaway line in a promo.
When he retired, this man had amassed many championships, made millions upon millions of dollars for the WWF, and would be credited as one of the critical men in winning the Monday Night Wars.
Figured it out?
That man was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
---
I see a lot of similarities between him and Zack Ryder. Ryder was free-wheeling until the first "Woo Woo Woo" promo. Yes, it didn't happen overnight but eventually he took that one moment and he has built himself around that, to the point now where he undoubtedly is gathering a cult following (on these boards, at least. In the general fanbase, I'm not sure).
I'm not saying that Zack Ryder will become the wrestler of the 2010s. Honestly, if Zack Ryder could have one-quarter of the career Austin had, I'd be happy. But the similarities are there. Frankly, the sky is the limit.
You know it.

I don't think today's booking will benefit Ryder like it did Austin, unless, he comes out with the first official "Woo Woo Woo" shirt and becomes a cash-cow.

Ryder's definitely awesome, and judging from his vignette with the MVP Lounge on the Smackdown anniversary show, creative likes using him. Despite any Conway pops he might be getting now, I always hear at least a few "WOO WOO WOO"s in the audience during his entrance, plus I swear a lot of people are singing along to "Ooohhh, Radiooo..." when the music hits, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Bottom line, Ryder is on the fast track. He's a big fish in a small pond right now (ECW), so he won't be getting major crowd responses until the crowd sees him in big PPV matches and main eventing RAW/Smackdown on a regular basis.

He needs some more vignettes to further establish his gimmick. Something like following him around Long Island for "A day in the life of Zack Ryder." Show him tanning, going to the club, and acting like a huge douche.
