Why are the fan's supposed to feel sorry for this man??!! I don't think they are trying to make Tenay a huge superstar face... but instead they are giving him more of a Mean Gene Okerland type role... he takes crap from the heels, and just has to sit there and take it.

I love the fact that Tenay doesn't say anything back to him. He DOES just sit there and take it, because he knows DW is right.

Yeah, I don't see how Tenay is a face in all this. He let his partner and supposed friend get trashed by fellow employees behind his back and didn't stand up for him even a little bit? Didn't even throw in a "well, you have to understand that he didn't start out with wrestling like we all did"? I could totally sympathize with West here, unless we're supposed to believe West is a heel simply because he was quick to believe secondhand information from someone without questioning it, and then proceeding to make an on-air scene from that (possibly) false information. But even then, I don't know.
I do agree with the poster that said that Tenay is likely supposed to be the face simply on the basis that he's at least trying to remain professional about it. It could also be that he didn't tell Don about the meeting because he didn't want to hurt Don's feelings, not thinking he would find out about it from someone else.
Wait a minute, WHY THE HELL AM I ANALYZING AN ANGLE BETWEEN MIKE TENAY AND DON FREAKING WEST?!

Wait a minute, WHY THE HELL AM I ANALYZING AN ANGLE BETWEEN MIKE TENAY AND DON FREAKING WEST?! The only reason I got involved is because I wanted Don's job. Sadly it's looking like there's no way they're going to fire him now that's he's instantly over. Him going off on Tenay could've saved his job if this has any basis in reality whatsoever. My services will be better utilized elsewhere anyhow! ;D

TNA is in Nietzschean territory here; they are beyond heel and face.

My only problem is that, like most face/heel turns in TNA, the turn had no real dynamic or depth to it. One week West is cursing the ground the Main Event Mafia walks on, and the next he says they're, and I quote, "The hottest thing going today, Mike."
Really, the MEM could've been a catalyst for West's turn...
West: "After this week, I'm starting to understand what the Main Event Mafia is saying about respect."
Tenay: "What does that mean, Don?"
West: "Oh you know damn well what it means, Mike Tenay."

West was so over the top on Impact that it totally undercut everything he said. It's like there was no graduation process, last week he was lame babyface West, and now this week everything he said was 100% in opposition to everything from before.
In a company that prides itself on "shades of gray" booking, they needed to turn West in a more gradual, believable way, rather then "I'M A HEEL NOW AND I LIKE EVERYTHING TENAY DOESN'T LIKE."

That is why I pulled a Nelson Muntz when West left Tenay last night right before the Angle beatdown of Lethal. West as a heel just might be the thing that makes me watch TNA on a more regular basis again.

They're trying to make West a heel, but he's a Jericho heel -- everything he says is spot on correct, and you just don't want to hear it. AJ IS a heel for attacking Booker from behind and stealing his belt. Joe IS a heel for holding a knife to Steiner's throat. Suicide IS kind of a prick for showing up and attacking people after their matches, especially the Guns who you can tell are very over with the fans (Shelley was getting all the face pops during that match with Kiyoshi). The only part I don't like is that when DW storms off, it leaves us with that annoying voice of Tenay's alone for the remainder of the show. It's so irritating. The Americans were the heel in 1776.

Why is Don West a heel? He hates Suicide. sign of a TRUE heel. That makes Don a sympathetic Face IMO.

The one thing that I don't like about it, and it's a really petty deal, is that Tenay says that he's "never worked with anyone more unprofessional", but, in kayfabe, hasn't he worked with Bobby Heenan before? He should be able to handle anything that West can possibly throw at him after Heenan.

The way I see it, maybe he's tired of being Mike Tenay's lapdog as it were, and being "forced" to agree with everything he says. And assuming the management meeting took place between last week's show and the week before, it would make perfect sense for West to suddenly hate Tenay by the following show.

I think the general idea here is that West has been agreeing with Tenay for the sake of playing along and being the good company man, and he's finally grown tired of it when he realizes that his efforts are going unappreciated. He's not necessarily agreeing with the heels just to be obstinate, he's finally giving himself the freedom to tell the hard truth -- that the faces / "Frontline" aren't always in the right.

Alright before I start let me say that this angle has made me love Don West. Seriously, I never thought I would actually enjoy listening to this man call a match, but when he spends half the show pointing out the flaws in TNA's face/heel alignments, and half the show calling Mike Tenay an idiot, it makes me sit back and actually enjoy the show for once. Like I said, DW becomes more enjoyable, Tenay looks like the douchebag. And DW is "defacto face" because well he looks like the guy standing up for himself and outing Tenay as a dickless coward

I'm beginning to think that all this is just a way to make West the heel commentator. I don't see them replacing him. I think they realize that they were both getting a little too facey so this is a way to change it up. I find it pretty ironic and hypocritical that poeple like West now even though a month ago you were all ready to castrate him.
