...and I think I have found a Hogan match I like more now then I did as a kid! Savage vs Hogan at WM5. Buildup? Check. 2 huge stars? Check. Hogan doing wrestling moves? Check (wrist lock drop toe hold for christ's sake). Savage being way ahead of his time? Check (Multiple top rope moves, including a double axe handle from the top to the OUTSIDE, this is 89 for hugs sake!), Hogan slamming Savage over the top rope to the floor? Check. Elizabeth being involved? Check. Bloody Hogan? Check. Outside brawling? Check.
This match is huging mint, I'm telling you. I was never bored for a second, and it truly is an overlooked Hogan gem. What ya think?

I think this proves Macho Man needs a DVD Oh for sure. It will never happen, but it would be nice. But what I'm saying is, I thought the match would have been Savage carrying Hogan, but Hogan really stepped his game up this match. Far better then a John Cena vs Chris Masters or some bullshit match like that ya know?

Great main event for a great Wrestlemania.

This match is huging mint, I'm telling you. I was never bored for a second, and it truly is an overlooked Hogan gem. What ya think? I've never felt this match has been overlooked in Hulk Hogan's legacy. The only thing might be that when you're compiling a list of great matches, whether that list is of great WrestleMania matches or of great World title matches, then Hulk Hogan isn't going to be one of the first wrestlers to come to mind. But I've seen this match listed on lists of Hulk Hogan's best matches, more often than not. Rightly so, it was a true "main event" match-up for both men and for the WWF at the time. ------ Otherwise, I can relate to you because I saw it as a kid before I understood how the industry works, and all I cared about was the end, so Hulk Hogan winning the title back made it a bad match.

The reason it is overlooked is because it took place the same day as the Flair vs Steamboat best of 3 falls classic at the Clash of Champions

People hate giving Hogan credit. Who cares if a Hogan match doesn't come to mind in the great matches of all debate? Hogan entertained millions of people and had some pretty good matches during his Hulkamania run with guys like Randy Savage, Ted Dibiase, Utimate Warrior, Mr. Perfect, etc.

I am watching the DVD and just got to the part where Hogan first won the world title.
First, I love the edits with "F" being replaced with "E."
Second, was I the only one who got a quick out of Hogan's celebration party group?
Andre, Ivan Putski, and Rocky Johnson? That seems like a mishmash of people there. But it 'felt" real so the scene was neat.

That was one of Savage's trademarks. He was doing that long before his match with Hogan. One of the reasons he's regarded as one of the pioneers of high-flying.

Yup, great match. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Hogan got busted open hardway, as well.

If we get a Savage DVD, it will be played out EXACTLY like Warrior's.

I'd say that they were 3 of the biggest faces in the company at the time so I think it makes sense. I'm not sure when exactly it was filmed but Jimmy Snuka had a match following Hogan's that night so that could be the reason why he wasn't back there.

This is the rare Hogan match that I loved. I've gone back over the years and watched this match a ton of times. Really really good.
