Gotta go with the Invasion. ECW's honestly not horrible at all, people just need to get it through their skulls that it's not ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever gonna be the old ECW. Once you get past that you enjoy the show a lot more.

I for one think there should be a both option for this one. I don't knoe, I feel that there is a defined difference by how screwed up each is.

while the invasion was a failure, it didn't have two pay per views building it's return, and then when it did return, it was sandman beating a zombie and batista vs. big show....

Sandman vs Zombie was 3 funny minutes, and the crowd made Batista/Big Show fun just to watch Batista cry and wet himself that they weren't cheering his roided up ass. God bless Show for knowing how to play off a crowd, not just to one. WWECW also gave us good to great matches from RVD, Angle, Show, Flair, Sabu, Dreamer, Sandman, etc. It didn't really fail, IMO, till D2D. And if you look at ONS 1 and 2, especially 1, as one night tributes to the REAL ECW, they arent failures at all.

InVasion. Even if some of the big names were present due to injuries or contract issues, it was completely unecessary to move huge WWE stars over to the side of WCW/ECW for the main event. At a time where wrestling was still on the upper end of its popularity and people dreamed of cross-brand matchups, we got InVasion. The arena floor that night was wiped up with the stars of WCW and WCW basically ceased to have ever existed after that night.
I really enjoyed ONS and ONS 2 wasn't too bad. The show on Sci-Fi puts me to sleep sometimes, but, hell, so does Raw. From what I've seen of D2D, it does look a bit on the ... bad side. But, however, I've gotten bits of enjoyment out of WWECW and that's more than what I can say for InVasion.

The Invasion. Awful, awful stuff. I remember watching the last ever Nitro and thinking "It's going to such a good time to be a wrestling fan." I used to pair off wrestlers together in my head and thought of great cards and angles.
But as soon as Shane bought WCW (Kayfabe part) then a feeling of dread crept in. Then the angle failed, and when the ex-WCW names WERE bought in they were made to look stupid or didn't do themselves any favours.
Vince may have succeeded in burying WCW for his own means, but that angle seemed to prove nothing except Vince seems to have an intense hatred of an industry he utterly dominates.
As for WWECW, in my mind, it's Vince's turn bury the legend of ECW. Sure, we remember 'the good old days', classic ECW, but for the majority of wrestling fans, they will remember the last thing they see. To them, "ECW" will mean nothing at all. Everyone sees through the facade.
Vince destroyed WCW with the help of ECW and now he's turning on them.

ECW.
The Invasion was doomed to fail in the beginning because of lack of star power. At least ECW has a chance to succeed.

What people forget with the likes of Hogan, Hall, Nash and Goldberg is Time-Warner was paying them to do nothing.
Once their contracts ran out, they had no leverage and WWE was able to sign them to more reasonable deals.
Overall The Invasion was a bigger disaster, but their were outside factors contributing to this.
Where as with ECW, it was all up to WWE how good they wanted it to be and they decided to screw ip up, almost it seems on purpose.

Also, if you look at it from the perspective of an ECWE fan, you can use this equation.
Paul Heyman=Overseer of Extreme Velocity Stephanie McMahon=Owner of WWECW
That puts things even more in perspective.

I watched Vince's DVD and he concede some things he did wrong but he avoided the invasion debacle entirley. Has he ever said anything about it?
Without a doubt the invasion angle was the worse of the two. All due respect to ECW they never threatened any promotion's bankruptcy like WCW did. Wcw vs WWF was a child's dream come true and they blew it for all times they blew it. He could maybe re-create it with some wild angle involving Bischoff, the NWO or just a bunch of ex-WCW guys but in the end they killed the biggest momentum they'd ever have by not caplitalizing on it.
I saw that someone wrote that they rushed it. I don't think that is true. They made us wait until the end of July and the begining of August before doing anything with it. This is a good deal of time to get your stuff together.

Definitely the Invasion. The drop-off in fans from the end of 2000 to 2002 proves it

For the Invasion, all they had to do was put some effort into setting everything up. From there, the shows would create themselves with the amount of talent they had. Every PPV would bring in money, and the Wrestlemania would have been a bona-fide supershow. Wrestlemania III, Starrcade 97... pssh. We're talking Austin/Hogan, Rock/Goldberg, Angle/Awesome... the list goes on.

The new ECW. I didn't think it would be so far from the original after watching One Night Stand I and II.

The Invasion definately. Wrestling was at the zenith of it's popularity and everybody was talking about all the great matches that could have came. Matches like the champion of champions match with Sting, Tazz, and Stone Cold, Even Goldberg, Tazz, and Stone cold and the crowds would have went apeshit just for the name value alone. But Vince wanted to be greedy and make the WCW and ECW guys look like crap just like he's doing with ECW now. About the only good to come out of ECW so far is CM Punk and he was pretty much already well over coming in.

I voted 'The return of ECW' but you should've added to the poll Their lacklustre & piss poor attempt at resurrecting the NWO! NEW WORLD ORDER 'For Life!'

Definitely the invasion.
invasion sucked and didn't really help build up anyone new.
ECW has had some bad shows, but has had come good ones and has elevated CM Punk and still has the potential to be a really good show.
