Any guesses on what Joey Styles is making of this mess that is the WWECW? You think he regrets leaving a comfortable job to be a puppet for the "c" show? Does a bear pee in the woods?

1) Collecting a paycheck and drinking heavily, I assume. 2) Back to the drinking heavily thing, it would numb the pain of watching a legendary promotion turn to s***. 3) Bears must pee in the woods because the local lodges won't allow them to use their urinals. It's discrimination but if they argue the point, SOMEONE goes and calls for a bear hunt. What can you do?

Eh, ECW isn't all that bad, it's not like it's Raw, Impact or anything. Styles does get to call the matches with the likes of, RVD, Punk, Lashley, Sandman and Khali...nothin' wrong with that at all, while getting mad cash for it.

He also still might be in line to replace JR when he steps down from the RAW broadcast table. I know Joey's first "go-around" as head RAW broadcaster didn't go as planned, but I still think Joey is the best play-by-play guy the WWE has. I think Joey would work well with a definite heel color-guy like a JBL or heel Lawler.

Joey, I'm sure, understands that this is ECW in name only. What he did before, what the real ECW did before will always stand on its own and be remembered as revolutionary. For now Joey gets to support his family doing what he loves to do. I wish I could be so lucky.

He also still might be in line to replace JR when he steps down from the RAW broadcast table. Yeah, Joey being hired to be the main announcer for the WWE "A" show, then in short order being demoted to what could have been something great but instead is THE disappointment of 2006...he had a very good job outside of the WWE. He seemed hesitant to walk away from it, even for the RAW spot. Now he's on extreme heat/velocity. I can only guess, but I'd bet good money that he's doing something to dull the pain in the form of booze/drugs.

Him and Tazz are storytellers, and the stories aren't even good. Fortunately the ECW show still is somewhat solid, and often times better than Raw or SmackDown. Not always, but sometimes.

As soon as he's gone from the company, I'm sure we'll hear all about it.

He pulls out one of the best worked shoot promos ever, then gets stuck in the very same situation he was railling against. Makes him look pretty foolish, considering how everything turned out.

Styles does get to call the matches with the likes of... Khali... nothin' wrong with that at all... You're kidding, right? I think Joey's promo on Raw was one of 2 things. One, someone either convinced/deceived him into thinking that WWECW would bear at least some resemblance to the original or it was planned that it WOULD bear some resemblance to it. But then, Vince faced some honest crowds that had no reserve in voicing their displeasure, and well, we saw how well he handled that. The second possibility is that the promo was basically a warning. You heard a bunch of WWE employees saying, "Just keep in mind that this is a new ECW; it'll be different, etc." With that promo, Joey might have been warning fans of the real ECW, saying, 'Hey, be warned. This is what WWE is like, and this is what ANY show they produce will be like.' But somehow, even if that's the case, it still doesn't take away any of the sting. Regardless of what actually happened, I don't think Joey is one bit to blame for what's happened to the ECW name. If he gave up the other job, he's stuck there for now. And as a wise man once said, "Everybody's got a price."

IIRC, he did very well with the advertising firm he worked at for years (even while doing the ECW commentary), and he seems like he's a pretty sharp guy, so I assume that he's properly saved and invested, etc, etc.
He's probably enjoying the fact that he's getting his checks on time, which is a blatant contrast to the $48K in checks that he never saw during the original ECW's dying days.

On the promo - that's all it was a promo. It was supposed to get you guys thinking "OMGFXZ, best promo ever!!!" and then changing your pants six times. That was the intention, it wasn't real. If he really felt what he felt in the promo he wouldn't be working for the company right now.
Come on guys its a job and he probably enjoys it, wrestling isn't real so it's doubtful if he even misses the old product its only the fans and those on the outside who actually think about that kind of crap anyway.

This is a very good point. WWECW is an abomination, a stinking corporate television suppository. Even if it's the "best" show WWE has to offer (as some try to say), it's still abysmal. But if I were Joey, I'd have a hard time not appreciating it a LITTLE more than the original ECW since he's actually drawing a decent paycheck rather than nothing at all.
