Following last year's fiasco with Matt Hardy and his heel performance in general, am I the only person here who actually forgot that Edge is a nice guy in real life? I kept picturing him as an overall jerk this year, but lately I've been hearing a few good things about him, like his comments on CNN. Could this be indicative of how well he is in the role of heel, or did the entire Hardy/Lita thing just strike a nerve in me?
Regardless, what did you all think about Edge this year, whether the character or Adam Copeland (not that we really know the guy)? Did any of you become engrossed in his performance and begin to think that's who he is in real life?

After reading his book, I cannot find it in me to think of him as anything but a nice guy, so that's my perspective on it.

Every time I listen to him do a non-kayfabed interview I'm reminded that he isn't the Rated-R Superstar character. But when I'm watching the show, or reading about his character, you can get really caught up in it. He's a great heel.

He seems like a nice guy. Horny, but nice.

I kept picturing him as an overall jerk this year, but lately I've been hearing a few good things about him, like his comments on CNN. I don't think that CNN story is him being a nice guy, he's just trying to protect the business. I think the whole Edge/Hardy/Lita thing got blown way, WAY out of proportion. The amount of bile that was being spewed at all three parties involved was getting ridiculous, and then when Edge won the title for the first time, people couldn't believe it, saying how dare he get pushed for doing such an awful thing, wah wah wah. People make mistakes and can eventually be forgiven, but internet zealots who, for some reason, think that Hardy could be a credible main eventer (HA!) couldn't look beyond that, so he was built up as this major league douchebag who didn't deserve a main event push due to his actions in the bedroom, despite being in the business for about 10 years and knowing how to draw. In conclusion, the perception of Edge has changed dramatically this past year, much like the perception of JBL changed after delivering his first promo after being fired from CNBC. I don't care how Edge is outside of TV, but if he's a nice guy, great!

He did stab his boy in the back, so at-best he is a mixed-bag. But almost all of us have some significants moments of shame. He could be a pretty solid guy overall.
I do like that WWE has a top-wrestler that isn't juiced-up. Props to him for getting-over without the Tijuana pharmaceuticals.

I hate him as a heel, granted, if he turned good on monday, I'd be thrilled. As far as the love triangle with him, Matt and lita-well I don;t think of Eric Clapton as a jerk for stealing George Harrison's wife

From what Ive heard, hes a pretty nice guy, and usually tries to atleast interact with the fans a little bit when all the wrestlers are going into the hotels, instead of just ignoring them...

I think he's probably the best heel in the E.

Edge became my favorite wrestler this year. Like the promos, like the better than you attitude and he is the most entertaining person in WWE.

Edge is awesome. I wasn't a fan of his heel run at first, but he's really grown on me this year. Easily one of WWE's best heels for 2006.
And I'm not surprised the guy's nice out-of-kayfabe. He seems like he likes interacting with the fans. As for the whole Lita fiasco, shit happens. Mistakes can be made. If Matt Hardy has seemingly forgiven him enough to work with him again, so should the fans.

I'm going to say that he's probably the best heel the E has right now, and though I did participate in the "he doesn't deserve the push he has" for what it's worth he probably is an ok, albeit untrustworthy person outside of kayfabe.
Now if he could just get a finisher other than the Spear.

I don't think one can gloss over the fact that he slept with his best-friend's girlfriend just because he's a good wrestler. It would be easier if one could, but that's not the case. It wasn't justified in ANY way and Edge (and Lita as well) was entirely wrong in that situation.
That being said, I can enjoy Edge's work while accepting the fact that he did something wrong. I would also discourage any insults against Edge as we (the fans) have likely done things just as bad or worse. (Of course, those that like Edge because they wish they could sleep with their best-friend's girlfriend and still succeed are in need of help.) Honestly, I thought that WWE was more to blame in that situation (with Edge and Lita being a close second), as they fired Matt when he didn't do anything wrong.

I can pretty much gloss over the fact about his whole personal life thing, as I really don't care what the guys do 'behind the curtain'. That said, I still have trouble buying him as a legit title contender, even though he's won it twice. But that's probably on the crappy way both runs were handled moreso than him.

Maybe that's because both runs were used to put over Cena. That's not a knock on Cena either, it's just what happened.

He's Canadian, I'm Canadian. No more needs to be said.
But seriously, I think he deserves it. He worked hard to get his spot in the WWE, and worked even harder when he got it. Yes he made a mistake, but we weren't there when he did it, so who are we to judge. I for one don't care that much, people mess up, it happens.
He really needs to bring back the Downward Spiral, I LOVE that finisher.

I am always excited when I see Edge in a main event or a gimmick match. He is one of the few guys on the roster that you can almost always expect to see a big spot out of during the match. Not only are these spots good, they are usually than what you think he would do. I never thought he would spear Foley outside the ring through a flaming table, but he did. His work kind of reminds me of HBK in this regard. You just knew that he would do about anything to make a match memorable.

Edge became an ultra heel after the incident with Matt Hardy. That was probably the thing that put him over as a heel. It's hard to think that he used to be a hugely over babyface.
Edge is probably a nice guy, but his persona probably overshadows what some people think of him.
