Stepford Wives most likely spent too much on casting. I'm sure Christopher Walken alone charged Stepford Wives $17 million. What? Too little? That was my guess. Still, man, $90 million. On The Stepford Wives. *head explodes*

Wasn't Nicole Kidman in that as well?

Wasn't Nicole Kidman in that as well? Yup. Her, Matthew Broderick, Walken, Faith Hill, Jon Lovitz, Bette Midler, Glenn Close...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Nicole got the biggest payday amongst those. They probably could've paid Lovitz with a turkey sandwich.

90 Million, where they building RoboCop 2?
Some films amuse me with there insane budgets, Horror, Comedy and Romance should never cost more then 40 at most in todays dollars, even with casting, if people want that much, get other people.

Well, I will say this Erisi, I can see why comedies like Bruce Almighty cost a lot, and I can see why studios put their faith (pardon the pun) into Jim Carrey for situations like that.

TRICK R TREAT (2008) STARRING: Brian Cox, Dylan Baker, and Anna Paquin Take a movie that is at once an homage to CREEPSHOW, PULP FICTION, and TALES FROM THE CRYPT, set it squarely on All Hallow's Eve, and throw in some downright great acting, and what do you get? You get director Michael Dougherty's TRICK R TREAT, which is in my opinion, one of the best horror anthologies, and the single best love letter to the season to come along in the last ten years. TRICK R TREAT is essentially four intertwining tails set on Halloween night in a small town where, several years ago, something very bad went down. To say anymore than that about the central plot cog would be to ruin the surprise and shock of one of the film's key moments. Suffice to say that we get (in no particular order here, but in a definite order in the film): Dylan Baker as a grade school teacher with a sinister secret; a group of kids out to tempt fate and spit in the eye of a horrible accident by going to where it happened and playing a prank; Anna Paquin in a twisted sort of take on Little Red Riding Hood; and the always excellent Brian Cox as an old man who faces down the very spirit of Halloween in what was, in my opinion, the film's best segment. Folks, let me tell you; TRICK R TREAT is NOT to be missed. This is a film with something to satisfy everyone, and if you loved the original CREEPSHOW, you are going to love this film. When I found out that Warner's had been sitting on this gem of a movie since late 2007....I was and still am, very upset. Why is it that EXCELLENT movies like this one, and (from what I have heard) PARANORMAL ACTIVITY have to struggle to find distribution, but the AWFUL crap like SORORITY ROW and the latest horrid SAW movie play in every theater in town? Anyway, like I said, there's not a whole lot of gore to this film, but what there IS plenty of is fun, excitement, and energy, and you know what? There's a ton of heart, soul, and original thought in this film as well. Half the reason I enjoyed it so much was that I was totally in the dark about what was going to happen next. It's that unpredictable, and considering the dearth of star power, you never DO know who's getting offed next. It's AWESOME to feel that in a horror movie for a change. ***** out of ***** from me. Check it out.

Hello there Boils and Ghouls. Can't believe this is the first time I've posted in a Horror Thread. I like it here. You guys are INCREDIBLY well-informed about your scare flicks. I dig that. So, here are the films I have lined up for tonight (post Superstars and IMPACT!): " I Drink Your Blood" is a film I've been looking for ever since I first heard about it a few years ago. Now I finally got my claws on it. I enjoy a good "bloodthirsty cult" movie every now and then. I'll enjoy seeing where this one goes. " Phantasm" is one I haven't seen in quite a while. Even though, I could never forget about The Tall Man. Happy Haunting, fiends!

So I went to Wal-Mart earlier and found that they had brought down a ton of movies in price and even have a shelf full of $5 movies apart from the giant $5 bin, most of them horror. While most of them were straight-to-DVD no-budget crap, there were some surprising finds. Notably the new version of Happy Birthday To Me that came out a month or two ago that you guys were going crazy about was $5. Of course, it was a one-disc with no Special Features so I don't know if they released a 2-disc edition. But still, it just came out so I picked it up, even though I've never seen it. Also, the 2-disc Steelbook edition of Texas Chainsaw Massacre that I paid like $20-$25 a few years ago is $5 now. But don't be surprised if your local Wal-Mart doesn't have them. I live near 2 Wal-Marts and they're not completely consistent with what they carry even though they're like a mile apart.
Also, I saw that Meijer has a lot of horror movies for Halloween for like $9.50. But I didn't get a chance to look at the selection as I went there to help my roommate get a new TV.

The Wal-Mart near me is having that same sale, only with all their "lenticular cover" DVDs.

Going to continue my Halloween Horror Fest this evening by sticking on the under-rated New Nightmare What I like about New Nightmare is that it really isn't a ANOES movie at all but it only looks like it is. Not only that, but it is one of Wes Craven's overall better movies IMO, even if it is for different reasons that ANOES.

Welcome aboard. Confession time - I've never seen a single Phantasm movie. Blasphemy, I know. I never would have pegged you for not having seen them. Wow. Capsule opinion: Phantasm: Cool, original, probably the best. Phantasm 2: A little bit more action makes for a solid sequel. Think that Phantasm 2 : Phantasm :: Evil Dead 2 : The Evil DeadPhantasm 3: Lord of the Dead - Meh. Aw hell why not just say it? Crappy studio intervention. Phantasm 4: Oblivion - Solid sequel that really brings the story full circle. Brings a tear to a glass eye by the end.
