Is it too late for me to make fun of the Cowboys? I mean seriously, their only score was in Garbage Time. After being told this was some elite team.... their offense was complete and total garbage last night. Awful. Totally and completely awful. It's not like Reggie White came back from the dead to stuff the Cowboy's either. The mediocre Pack took it to the Cowboys and stuffed their face into the dirt. The season isn't over. I still have faith in the Boys to make a comeback.

Just make it Josh Cribbs vs Calvin Johnson in some kind of skills competition. It would be more entertaining and a bigger draw than the actual game. And just think, it's just a warm-up for the most epic suck-fest known to man at the end of the season with Oakland-Cleveland. Seriously, if the NFL wanted to make some money, they should contact the NCAA and have TCU play Oakland and Florida play Cleveland. Those would be more entertaining, and probably more competitive. So is Oakland vs Cleveland going to be the Colt McCoy Bowl this year?

Even if there's no cap, they can't possibly have enough money to pay for McCoy also. Unless there's something where they can cut Russell without cap penalties in the future. I wonder how all the financial details will work with no cap next season. Can teams just cut their first round busts without fear of punishment?

ESPN is reporting that Larry Johnson will be a Bengal. I don't like that move for the Bengals. His career is nowhere near what it once was, and the guy brings way too much legal trouble baggage. Normally I'd say the NFL teams would win, but with the Raiders and Browns this season I'd give the edge to the college teams. The Browns have Josh Cribbs as their only weapon, and Joe Thomas as the only other guy that can even come close to the Pro Bowl. They don't have anything else. With the Raiders, they do have 4 decent offensive weapons, the problem is 3 are running backs (McFadden, Michael Bush and Fargas) and the other one (Zach Miller) has to rely on a terrible QB. All anyone needs to do is stack 8 in the box, and make the Raiders beat you with passing. On the defensive side of the ball the Raiders are better, they do have a good secondary, just not much else.

The Bengals have a good running back with Cedric Benson as it is, I wouldnt try to get another one unless Cedric is badly injured.

So he's perfect for the Bengals. If we're talking a couple of years ago, yeah. Not this group though. So far at least they've been model citizens. Benson is supposed to play this week, and his replacements performed well in Pittsburgh. This isn't a necessary move and I hate that they're making it, even at the league minimum. Still, Benson became reborn in this scheme, so if Johnson can do the same this is a minimal gamble that could pay off big. He has to know this is his last chance, so he better walk the straight and narrow or his career is finished.

Just saw the gamble that Belicheck made and I am pissed that the ref clearly blew the call on where it should have been spotted. It was a first down.

He was bobbling half the way down thus eliminating his own forward progress. Even if it's reviewed, he's a good half yard or yard short. He holds on to the initial catch and it's a clear first.

Yea, I think the spot was fine.
I liked the call when it happened, and I still do. That said, im not a Pats fan, and am just speaking as a viewer.

Yeah there's no way they overturn that last spot. While from behind it looks like a catch, from the front you clearly see he didn't catch it at first and bobbled it. There can't be forward progress until he actually has the ball. And by the time he actually possessed it it's near impossible to tell where exactly the ball is in relation to the line.
Besides, like everyone told me last week, if you need a yard, run a play that will get you 3. Pats should have looked 5-6 yards downfield rather than try to get the bare minimum if they don't want the refs to have a say.

Hey guys, do you know what the only game is left this week that could potentially match the excitement and execution of last night's game?
........ Because neither do I, seeing as tonight we get Baltimore/Cleveland.
GASP apathetically as the Browns fake a WR reverse to Josh Cribbs, which is actually a designed run to Jaamal Lewis which goes for 2 yards.
STAND UP to get a drink as Brady Quinn throws downfield 3 times all night, completing none, before shouting "Now I'm done" and getting another Myoplex commercial out of it.
LOOK ON in slight humor at shots of Mangini looking pensive as he wonders what job he'll get once he's fired.
WONDER as to how many minutes in the game will the first boos be heard.

A day later, and I still don't think Belichick's 4th down decision was all that bad. Brian Burke of the NYT provides some pretty interesting statistical analysis:

I'm pumped that the Panthers are getting the national spotlight this Thursday with the NFL Network game.
The Dolphins are just in the way of us getting back in the wild card hunt. Hopefully the Delhomme that showed up yesterday, finds his way back to the stadium on Thursday.

A day later, and I still don't think Belichick's 4th down decision was all that bad. Brian Burke of the NYT provides some pretty interesting statistical analysis: I don't agree with Belichick's call to go for it, but this was the best explanation for his move. It wasn't about swagger, it wasn't about ego, it wasn't about arrogance or a lack of respect for the Colts defense. Belichick made the move that he believed gave his team the best chance to win the game. In the fourth quarter, Manning was cutting up the Patriots defense. His two scoring drives lasted less than five minutes each. Like Burke said, if the Patriots punt the ball, they give the Colts the ball with about 1:50 remaining at around the Indianapolis 35. With that much time, plus a timeout, do we really think that Manning couldn't have driven the ball down the field for the win? I agree with the general sentiment here that the play they ran was the wrong play. On 4th and 2, you run a play that would normally get you four or five yards, not a two-yard pass. The play they should have run was a pass over the middle to Welker. While the loss is devastating, its not the first gamble that Belichick has made, but it is one of those rare gambles that blows up. Imagine, six years ago, if Denver wins that Monday night game when the Patriots gave up the intentional safety. He would have been ostracized. But it worked out in the end for the Patriots. Last night, it didn't work. It wasn't the worst call ever. I understand why Belichick made the move, but I didn't agree with it then and I don't agree with it now.

So I take it everyone is having a day off tomorrow to celebrate well in to the night over the festival of football we are going to witness between the Browns and Ravens?

As has been mentioned the ref made absolutely the right call in the situation. You can blame 'em for many calls per week, but not that particular one.

I don't care what anyone says or how much logic was behind it. It was a stupid move by Belichick. Against a lesser offense, maybe, but not Payton Manning and the Colts. I'm not completely throwing him under the bus, but that was just a dumbass move.
"2 or 3 more inches and Belichick's a genius. Yeah and I'm a porn star. Punt the ball."

Keenan Burton is expected to land on injured reserve after suffering a patella injury in the Rams' Week 10 loss to the Saints.
JaMarcus Russell says he has no idea why he was benched in Week 10.
"I really can't explain it," he said. "I really don't know what to say about it, but that was (coach Tom Cable's) decision, and just move on." Russell completed 9-of-24 passes for 67 yards (2.8 YPA) before being yanked.

So I heard that Ronnie Brown is hurt and might miss this week's game....any news about his status?
That would be a huge gain for us although we'd still have to be on the lookout for a rejuvenated Ricky Williams and underdog Pat White...
