Does anyone know what bastion booger's gimmick was supposed to be? I have no idea, outside of a fat guy with gross personal hygeine<Sp?) (gross-out humor like ren and stimpy and beavis and butthead were huge at the time he debuted after all)

A fat, ugly, disgusting guy. That was it. I seem to recall hearing that Mike Shaw, who played the character, once did an interview where he said he and Vince had a long meeting about it, and Vince originally wanted him to be a monster who wore silver tights and a gargoyle mask and supposedly came out of a sewer...no I did not just make that up.

They should have pushed his hunchback more. "HE CAN'T BE PINNED!!!" Of course, he got pinned in a roll-up by Virgil in his debut match, so that got thrown out right off the bat.

I'm not sure what Bastion Booger was? I always thought he was a walking fart joke, and I was amazed when Vince actually had Booger do play by play one might on Raw and he actually sounded intelegent.
Which ruined the whole slob monster persona for me.
Wrestlecrap notes he was supposed to be a hunchback, but they never really played up that one.
Been funnier if he had worn a Gargoyle Outfit and came from the sewers. Hey if they booked Doink, the friendly clown- why not Bastion Booger, the evil Gargoyle.

Well let me put it this way... my nan, aunt and cousin use to come over every saturday which was the day that Mania or Superstars use to air here... and my cousin use to always call him "pregnant man", well she was 8.

He never really did anything particularly heelish either. Are we supposed to hate people because they have hygiene problems?

Wouldn't that just tip most wrestling fans into an even deeper pit of self-loathing? [/sterotype joke]

I read once in an interview where Mike Shaw said that he thought that the Bastion Booger character could have been a lot bigger if they would have made him a face. He made the argument that kids are into grossout humor like Ren & Stimpy - especially at that time - and that it could have been big with the kids if they would have used him like that.
I strongly agree.

That...actually makes sense. Hell, Rikishi got over sticking his ass in the faces of men.

I was ringside at a tv taping and Bastion came out with that ring music he had and me and my family all thought it was him farting. A tech guy at ringside (Who was an awesome guy to talk to for a 12 year old) Told us that he was in fact snoring and that he was sopossed to be a fat slob.

To this day I remember how grossed out my mom was when she walked by the tv when me and the neighborhood kids were watching Superstars in fall 93 and he basically teabagged some jobber as a finisher.
Word for word: Oh my god!!! That's so gross!! That guys gonna get crotch rot on his face!! Why don't you go outside and play ball instead of watching this stuff?
So we wen't and played SNES ;D

Just another one of Vince McMahon's "make fun of fat people and indulge in bathroom humor" fetishes. Not that there's anything wrong with bathroom humor because used correctly, it pays off comically. Here, it did not.
