And it's The Who.....I guess musically that's all fine and well but I'm sick of the NFL being too scared to showcase new artists due to nipple gate...
*Edit* Made this as a different thread since it doesn't necessarily pertain to the sport of football...

Two words you'll never hear at the Super Bowl Halftime Show: Lady Gaga
Oh wait, I'll add Adam Lambert. Guess that makes it 4 words.

I like some of The Who's songs, but have you seen their live performances lately?
They're a poor shadow of what they used to be. More specifically, Roger Daltrey. He can't sing to save his life anymore.

The Who are brilliant, but I was kind of hoping the NFL would book a younger band, like Muse.

Well, if they do Who Are You, probably their most iconic song, they'll have to get around the F-bomb that's in it.
And I do love The Who, but I'm not convinced they can still go after losing two of their original members, including one of the greatest drummers of all time in Keith Moon.

Saw The Who at the Melbourne F1 GP earlier this year.
They were awesome and would be suited for an event like the Superbowl.

I guess I should've used current artist....while I like a few songs by The Who (Behind Blue Eyes being my favorite), like someone said Muse or hell just have a few current artists sing one song each and I'd be fine..

And a segment of the American population wonders how the band who sings CSI theme songs gets the gig.

Does anyone really care about the half time show? They should just use that time for more Super Bowl commericals. I can't way for all the phoney actors who are going to rush the stage and pretend like they are fans of whoever is playing. Last year they did an article on these people, and I think it was Tom Petty. They had a bunch of 16 to 20 year old extras most of whom had no idea who Tom Petty was. The Super Bowl half time is a joke and a waste of time. I guess its not offensive because I won't be watching it. i just hate things that are phoney.

Look for the Super Bowl halftime show, they need people who are established because like it or not, the older crowd is the one with the money.
The Who is more than established while folks like Lady Gaga and the Muse, while having hits now......are not established big time yet. The young crowd doesnt care about watching the Halftime show to begin with so why would they want to appeal to that crowd.

Am I wrong in thinking that The Who used to be counter culture?
BTW: Janet Jackson might not be a current artist, but the rest of the Halftime show that year was much more current. Kid Rock, One of the NSync Gays, and didn't Britney show up for a few seconds?

This is why football doesn't appeal to me.
At least the Boston Red Sox had the Dropkick Murphys play their victory parade.

This will be better last year when they had Bruce Springsteen.
The Who FTW.
