You know I never understood why the babysitters club was so popular. I mean there were like a million of them in the library of my highschool and I tried reading one once and it was awful. Seriously what was the point of those books? Was it a girl or thing or what?

In the same vein, I don't get the love for Nancy Drew/ The Hardy Boys.

In the same vein, I don't get the love for Nancy Drew/ The Hardy Boys. You know, I read the Hardy Boys books when I was in like third grade, but looking back, I wonder how age appropriate that was. More than once the teenage heros would get in gun battles, one had, IIRC, his girlfriend blown up in a carbombing, and I seem to recall a shoot-out with highjackers during a "safety exercise" on an airplane.

I also loved the hardy boys. But I think that may have something to do with the fact that johnny quest was on around that time and I just saw imagined the hardy boys being replaced by Quest and Hadji

In and of itself, the idea of vampire-themed works aimed at younger audiences is nothing new. When I was a kid we ahd Count Duckula cartoons but also a children's book series called, IIRC, Bunnicula, about a vampire bunny who slept ina dirt filled box and drained vegetables of their juices, leaving fang marks.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I understand the idea. The phenomena that ensued after is what I can't grasp.

Agree wholeheartedly, I mostly wanted to bring up Bunnicula since I'm probably the only one here that remembers it.

E!, MTV and VH1 "reality" shows with truly abysmal and boring human beings.
EDIT: I thought "TV" was in the subject line but I'm sticking with it.

Any and all indie rock. Why do douchebags think this is the end all be all of music? Because some people like to feel superior by listening to music that's "underground" or whatever. I listen to tons of indie stuff, not that it's really a genre. However, I listen to it because I actually enjoy the music. Doesn't make my taste better or worse than anyone else's.

TWILIGHT TWILIGHT TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Viva La Anne Rice!
i don't understand in general why EVERYTHING now a days is suited for the younger generation...like books, clothes, music, movies, tv shows..what about the rest of us?
( irony- most violent movies are rated R and made for an audience thats about 15-18 years old)
I don't understand why reality shows like Jersey Shore and So You Think you can dance exist......
I really don't understand Rap music..yeah we get it your UBER rich, got bling and ho's all around, can smoke the finest weed and carry concealed weapons and have the best pimped out car... thats 90% of ALL RAP LYRICS right there! What happened to the days when we had good rap like Rapper's delight ad when they rapped about real situations that we all care about..like war and peace and such.....ok moving on..........................
also i don't get why young people need to work out SO DAMN hard at the YMCA? they are wicked skinny and wickedly muscular...
i feel left behind in todays society...man i never thought i would feel so old at age 31

What are you supposed to do with a Polly Pocket?

You buy the Pollyville houses (best spinoff in a toy franchise ever) & use them as scenery for your Voltron vs. Godzilla battles. Or course I've only done that once or twice myself so *shrug* I guess I can't really explain why I'm a grown man with a Polly Pocket collection neatly set up like a real town on 2 book shelves.
BTW, the new gigantic Pollys they have, wow to freaking miss the point!

I will never understand the appeal of rap, any movie Will Smith has ever had the slightest involvement in, first-person shooters, MMORPGs, Transformers (show, toys, or movies), the Harold & Kumar series, NCIS, Sugarland, and many, many other things.
