It's shocking to me how often Donald Pleasance shows up in movies that get the MST3K treatment. Was he hurting for money or something? I think he was the type that took whatever was offered to him and for whatever reason, it wasn't much. At least he had a great role in Escape from NY.

Pleasance was most likely someone who just took the first script that hit his desk as long as the money was up front. With that strategy, sometimes you get lucky. Halloween could have easily been an MST3k style film in the wrong director's hands. The numerous horrible clones of it has shown that. Although, I think all actors have "electric bill" movies that they take for the cash involved. I mean, it is a job like anything else and if you want to get paid you have to be working. Some can afford to wait for the "good" scripts, but others...not so much. DP was a very talented actor who seemingly gave his all no matter the movie. That said...I probably won't be collecting everything he was in.
