From empireonline.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Empire sat down with X-franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently, she revealed that young mutant pic X-Men: First Class was bubbling along nicely, with a script by The OC/Chuck creatorJosh Schwartz. Now it would appear that it also has a director, in the form of Bryan Singer. Given his long history with the X-Men movies, Singer has been mooted as the likely First Class directing choice for a while now, but he confirmed that he was all set for the film at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar. Talking to MySpace on the red carpet, Singer said, "I'm ramping up to do a movie called Jack The Giant Killer at Warner Bros, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an X-Men: First Class Origins picture, which is kind of cool. I'm very excited." Of course, Marvel has yet to officially confirm anything, but if you're not going to believe Singer, who can you trust?

I know there were people who hated what he did to the X-series....but I think the franchise could find new life with Singer back and Ratner gone. At least this way, they won't have to put chastity belts on the underaged actresses they cast as the X-students.
Speaking of which...any casting ideas/desires from the WC faithful?

I hope Wolverine is the star of this one!

Lets see, the guy who made X1 and X2, or the others who made X3 and Wolverine? This isn't a choice. Then again, I liked his Valkyrie. Maybe one of only 20 people, but there you go.

This might actually make me want to watch an X-Men movie again if this is true. Hopefully Singer won't put up with Rothman's B.S. and make a decent X-Men film (I know some people disliked his films but like toddpult said: compare X1 and X2 to the latest films, there is a huge difference).

So it's another allegory movie for him being an outsider/homosexual?
So if it's first class, It's Jean, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Storm, and Prof X as the cast?

I really enjoyed Singer's two X-Men movies, and hated the ones since. So him being back on board for the X-films is only a good thing IMO.

Singer's a quality filmmaker, and I think X2 is one of the best super hero movies of all time. I'd love to see him back in the chair, though I have my doubts about "Lebeau's Creek."
I like Smallville though, so we'll see.

While Singer's X-Men movies left much to be desired by comic fans like myself, they were still good, well put together films. The same cannot be said about the trainwrecks that were X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I'll take Bryan Singer over that rubbish.

The swapping of Bobby Drake and Remy Lebeau as Rogue's love interest kind of irked me at first, till I considered that Rogue was like 16 or 17 in that first film, so they'd have to de-age Gambit to match her unless they were going for a Lolita vibe with that. As Remy himself might say, No t'anks chere. ;D

So if it's first class, It's Jean, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Storm, and Prof X as the cast? I doubt Iceman will be in it. Iceman was depicted as being a student while Beast, Cyclops, and the rest were adults. So, if the adults are now kids, it'd stand to reason that Iceman would be too young for this. Ehhh....THAT I could get over. As Remy himself might say, No t'anks chere. ;D Yeah, the Gambit/Rogue thing woulda been creepy had it been used in the first few movies, given Rogue's age in them. But, if they ever do an X-Man 4 that takes place after Rogue has grown up a bit, they could always introduce that aspect of the comics if they wanted to.

Which makes me then ask: If the adults are teens/twentysomething, who the heck is going to be cast in those roles? I assume it won't be Grammar, Berry, Janssen, Marsden, and Stewart.

While Singer's X-Men movies left much to be desired by comic fans like myself What, still peevy over the no-yellow spandex? Nah, the black uniforms made sense. What I didn't like were the liberties taken with character personalities. Iceman was completely stripped of his witty personality, all of the swashbuckling Errol Flynn qualities were removed from Nightcrawler, and Storm was made into... well, Halle Berry. Oh, and Wolverine was toned WAY down and given far too much relevance over everyone else.

I assume it won't be Grammar, Berry, Janssen, Marsden, and Stewart. Good question. I haven't the slightest clue in me noggin', though. I can't imagine the actors and actresses who played the X-Men themselves will be returning, and I doubt they'd want to do that de-aging CGI stuff on Stewart for a whole movie (though I guess it might be possible). I also wonder if they'll have anyone new on the team, like Banshee or Thunderbird. To my knowledge, neither have appeared so far, so they'd be fair game for additional original members just as Beast was revealed to be in the third film.

We've not had luck with X-Men prequels thus far. But, if Singer is on board, I believe.

I mean, I'm just sitting here stumped as all hell. I mean, without going to the Disney Channel or Twilight....who out there is a young actor with decent enough chops to take on these roles? The only one I'm coming up with is Zombieland's Emma Stone as Jean Grey, and possibly ( I hate to say it, but I got no other ideas) Robert Pattinson as Cyclops. I know, I know, let the f*****g lynching commence. I cast someone from Twligiht. But goddamn it, no one knows what the guy could do outside the confines of that idiotic drivel. Give him a chance. Besides, his name = box office GOLD. There are worse choices a studio could make then to hire this kid for a role. Anyone got any better ideas?

What about the actor who played young Scott Summers in X-Men Origins:Wolverine? If its Cyclops, Jean, Beast and Storm, who do you want as a fifth mutant?

Hm. What about the werewolf kid from Twilight? I've heard good things about him, so maybe he could be one of the Native American X-Men like Thunderbird or Warpath if they wanted to wanted to add to the team and make it a little diverse at the same time.
As for Cyclops... they could just keep the guy they had for him in the Wolverine movie (though that's unlikely to be anymore a popular choice around here than Pattinson).
