Last Thursday my girlfriend and I were driving home and noticed a dog lying in the middle of the road, it had just been hit by a car so we turned back to see if it was ok.
There was a steady stream of traffic in front of us and the number of cars that just drove around the dog was shocking! Luckily it was hit just outside it's home and the owners were able to take it to a vet. We checked in the next day and the dog was fine thankfully.
Maybe it's just me but I found it horrible the amount of people who were willing to drive on and leave the dog to die on the road! To me that's just as bad as abusing an animal considering it would only take a few minutes to stop and check for any id tags or license number!

This. It's funny how we consume or kill lifeforms in all manner of fashion but get upset when they are mistreated. I mean, I'm the same - I adore cats and have nearly got into fights with former friends over the way they were being treated, yet there is some inherent contradiction somewhere in all of this when I'm chowing down on a cow's backside... ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

I'm reminded of an old Dennis Leary bit. "We want to save animals, but only the cute ones. Oh, help, I'm a cow and have big eyes! You're a cheeseburger, now shut up and get in the truck!"

Is there something wrong with me cuz I'm not as passionate about this as most people? I mean, I don't support animal abuse and I think whoever does it is a douche but I don't fly into a rage like most people I know.

I have this co-worker who got mad at me for the way I used to catch mice in my apt.
I'd set up this bucket about 1/3rd full of water and a ramp leading up to it. I'd string a soda can w/peanut butter over the top so when the mouse ran up and jumped on to the can to get the peanut butter the can would spin and the mouse would fall into the water to drown.
She claimed it was inhumane.
I agreed.
INHUMANE.....iNHUMANe. . . . inHUMANe. . . . I don't see the word "mouse" in there anywhere.
I get mad when I see people cutting their lawn you know! It's like, its TORTURE for the grass to constantly have their limbs chopped off every other week - only to be teased with water and mulch later on.
Also - people who trim their trees! Quit abusing these majestic creatures! Let them grow naturally and quit torturing them by hacking off thier limbs in some grotesque ritual under the guise of "keeping up the lawn."
Or the most sadistic of all holidays - VALENTINE'S day. A day dedicated to putting the rotting corpses of freshly murdered flowers on display for all to see. Sick bastards!

That's my take on it. I love a good barbecue, but I would go ballistic if someone ever tried to hurt my pets. Hell, I go out of my way not to needlessly crush bugs. (God, I'm a pansy.)
